Detroit Tigers (60–84 SU) @ Cleveland Indians (89–56 SU)
Wednesday, September 13th, 2017, Progressive Field
Farmer (+250) vs. Clevinger (-300)
On Wednesday, the MLB will have a huge slate of games, the first of which being our game — the Tigers and Indians. It will be the third game of the series, with first pitch set for 12:10 P.M ET.
Tigers In A Big-Time Rut
At this point in the 2017 MLB season, it’s safe to say the Detroit Tigers are out of the postseason race. They are 24 games below .500, 28.5 games back in the AL Central, and currently in a monster rut. Over the course of their last six games, they have gone 1–5, including an embarrassing 11–0 loss in Game One of this series.
Besides being in the middle of a letdown year, the team is also chalk full of injuries. Two of their best players — Michael Fulmer and Victor Martinez — are injured, and on Tuesday, it was announced they both had surgery to end their seasons.
On Wednesday, the team will try and save face a bit with an afternoon game against the rival Indians. Unfortunately, their starting pitcher in this game — Buck Farmer — is also in a bit of a rut, complete with a 6.32 ERA in his last seven starts.
Tribe Can’t Be Stopped
If you have been locked into football for the last few weeks, you may have missed what is going on in Major League Baseball — more specifically in Cleveland. The Indians have won 20-straight games and are literally steamrolling through their opponents.
In Game One of this current series with the Tigers, the Tribe jumped out to an early lead and demolished the Tigers 11–0. In Game Two, another shut out…Two games before that, they shut out the Orioles. The game before that? An 11-2 bashing of the Chicago White Sox. It’s safe to say that no one can stop Cleveland, and with the postseason right around the corner, the smart money is on the boys from Ohio.
On Wednesday, the Tribe will play an early game against Detroit at 12:10 P.M ET. Long-haired righty Steve Clevinger will get the start in this one, and recently, he’s been even hotter than the team as a whole. Over the course of his last three outings, Clevinger has allowed ZERO runs, earning three wins in the process.
- 6–2 in their last 8 games vs. CLE
- 2–6 in their last 8 Wednesday games
On Wednesday, fans will be tuned in to see if the Indians can extend their winning streak to 21 games. The first two games of this series have seen a complete demolition by Cleveland. In fact, the Tigers haven’t even scored a run. In Game One, Cleveland won 11–0, and in Game Two, they shut the Tigers out again, 2–0.
Betting-wise, the line for Wednesday’s game is crazy! The Indians are (-300), thanks in large part to their starting pitcher — Steve Clevinger — who has not allowed a run in weeks. However, we’re going to go against the grain here and get crazy. The line is too much to lay. The Indians are bound to lose sooner or later. For the sake of cashing in big time, take the Tigers at (+250) and watch as the Indians finally lose a game. Let’s get rich!
Game time is set for 12:10 P.M ET.
