New York Knicks (17-21) at Philadelphia 76ers (10-25)
NBA: Wednesday, January 11, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. ET
Line: New York -2
The New York Knicks hit the road to take on the Philadelphia 76ers for a Wednesday night contest. This is the first of four meetings between the two teams this year. Philadelphia has won three of their last four games, and New York has lost eight of nine. Joel Embiid leads the 76ers as he is averaging 19.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks in only 25 minutes. New York is led by their fantastic set of forwards in Kristaps Porzingis and Carmelo Anthony. Porzingis is averaging 19.8 points and 7.6 rebounds, and Anthony is putting up 21.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. Can Embiid lead the 76ers to another win?
Knicks embarrassed at home against New Orleans
The New York Knicks lost 110-96 to the New Orleans Pelicans on Monday night. New Orleans took control when they outscored New York 31-15 in the third quarter. Derrick Rose missed the contest due to personal reasons. Brandon Jennings led the Knicks with 20 points on 4-of-9 from 3-point range. Anthony had 18 points before getting ejected in the third quarter for arguing with officials. They were the only Knicks players in double-figures. New York shot 42 percent from the field and and New Orleans shot 48 percent.
Kristaps Porzingis struggled going for nine points on 3-of-13 shooting in 24 minutes. New York out-rebounded New Orleans 45-40 in the game. The Knicks fell to 11-8 at Madison Square Garden this season.
76ers top Nets
The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Brooklyn Nets 105-95 on Sunday afternoon. Philadelphia took control in the second half outscoring Brooklyn 59-38. Joel Embiid led the 76ers with 20 points and five rebounds in only 24 minutes. Robert Covington went for 15 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals in the win. The 76ers shot only 39 percent from the field while the Nets made 46 percent of their shots. Philadelphia did out-rebounded Brooklyn 46-40. Nik Stauskas finished with 15 points on 3-of-4 from 3-point range.
Dario Saric added 18 points and five rebounds off the bench. The 76ers had trouble containing Brook Lopez who had 26 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Philadelphia is now 4-11 on the road this season.
The New York Knicks are:
- 2-5 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
- 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
The Philadelphia 76ers are:
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
New York is without question the better team but they can’t buy a victory as of late. Philadelphia on the other hand looks as good as they have looked all year. Embiid will have a big game and lead Philadelphia to a narrow win.
The pick: Philadelphia
