Sacramento Kings (13-28 SU 16-22-3 ATS) at L.A. Clippers (20-21 SU 22-18-1 ATS)
NBA: Saturday, January 13, 2018 at 3:30 p.m. ET
The Kings are reeling, as they have lost three in a row and six of their last seven games. On top of that their last loss was at home falling to the Clippers where they gave up 121 points. Sacramento is tied with the Memphis Grizzlies for the fewest wins in the Western Conference. The defense for the Kings has not been that bad, well not good in the last game, but they have had issues scoring the pill ranking dead last in the NBA in ppg.
The Clippers have turned things around, as they have won four in a row and seven of their last nine games. They have their 2nd leading scorer back from injury in Blake Griffin and their offense has scored 125 points and 121 points respectively in their last two games. L.A. can get back to .500 with a win in this home game and if they offense performs like it did in their last game facing the Kings they will do just that.
These teams met in their last games where the total went over and the total has gone over in 10 of the last 14 games between these teams.
Can’t finish the comeback
The Kings hosted the Clippers in their last game and while they almost came back from a 14-point deficit they could not complete the comeback in the 121-115 loss. They shot a similar FG% as the Clippers, but still allowed L.A. to shoot 51.2% from the floor and they also allowed them to shoot better from deep. Bogdan Bogdanovic came off the bench and was the high scorer for Sacramento with 22 points and George Hill went for 21 points. The bench combined for 58 points and the four reserves outscored the five starters. The Kings have six players that are averaging in double figures led by Zach Randolph (15 ppg) and he is also the team’s leading rebounder at 7 rpg. He and Willie Cauley-Stein (11.7 ppg 6.3 rrpg) have to hope Jordan does not play for the Clip Joint and if he does not they have to hit the boards on the offensive end of the floor and give their team 2nd chances. Bogdanovic is averaging 11 ppg and in the last three games he has averaged 19 ppg. This season the Kings are 6-15 on the road.
Good shooting trumps turnovers
In their last game the Clippers were up north in Sacto and they beat the Kings 121-115 where they had a good shooting game and that helped since they turned the ball over 18 times. They shot 51.2% from the floor and 41.9% from beyond the 3-pt line and the Kings shot 49.4% and 30.8% from deep. Lou Williams led L.A. going for 30 points on 10/24 shooting and Blake Griffin had 18 points and 12 boards, but was only 5/14 from the field. The Clippers got a big night from their bench, as reserve Montrezl Harrell went for 25 points on 11/12 shooting and Wesley Johnson went for 13 points. Williams is the leading scorer for the Clip Joint averaging 23.1 ppg and Griffin is averaging 22.6 ppg and 7.7 rpg. DeAndre Jordan is averaging a double-double on the season at 11.8 ppg and 14.9 rpg, which leads the league, and he was injured in the last game against the Kings and is a question mark for this game. On the season the Clippers are 11-9 at home.
The Sacramento Kings are:
- 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games overall
- 1-8 ATS in their last 9 vs. Western Conference
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss
- 3-8-2 ATS in their last 13 road games vs. a team with a winning home record
The L.A. Clippers are:
- 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up win
- 13-4-1 ATS in their last 18 games overall
- 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record
The Clippers are rolling and the Kings are reeling and don’t look for Sacto to snap out of their skid in La La Land. the Clippers will light up the scoreboard again and their D will play better than they did in their last game facing the Kings. L.A. will get the win in this game and cover the spread moving to .500 on the season and sending Sacramento to their 4th straight loss.
