The Detroit Pistons have stumbled through the 2019-20 season, falling well below the .500 mark. The Pistons are coming off a double-digit win over the Boston Celtics.
Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks have largely found themselves in a similar place as the Pistons this year. The Hawks are heading into the contest after cruising past the Phoenix Suns.
Derrick Rose continues to keep Pistons afloatIt has been nothing short of a disappointing season for the Pistons that has been marred by injuries throughout that has plagued them from finding any consistent success. Instead, they have continued to fall south being further under the .500 mark that has pushed them out of the playoff picture near the halfway point of the season. Detroit has seen their top-scoring option in All-Star forward Blake Griffin be put out of the lineup for an indefinite time as he recovers from another knee surgery. Griffin didn't look like the same player as his production was down significantly across the board while he was playing in limited minutes on the floor.
That has prevented the team from getting anywhere near their full potential with their best player out of the mix. That has left a significant void on the floor that can't be filled with one player as he has been the driving force of the team since he arrived a couple of seasons ago. Meanwhile, veteran point guard Derrick Rose is back to playing like an All-Star as he has hit a hot streak as he has an active stretch of seven straight performances with at least 20 points. Rose has embraced and excelled as the Pistons' top scorer as that has been what has almost kept them afloat on the floor against opponents as of late. That will need to be the case against the Hawks on the road.
Hawks need Trae Young to lead the wayLike the Pistons, it has been a tough season for the Hawks to garner any sort of separation on the floor as they have dealt with injuries and inconsistent pay on the floor. Atlanta has had struggles with notable absences, such as John Collins being out of action for nearly two months, but it has been their struggles defensively that has put them in a tough spot on the court as they are one of the worst teams in that regard. The Hawks are currently allowing an atrocious 116.9 points per contest, which includes allowing more than 110 points in four out of their last five games with a pair of games seeing that mark going over 120 points given up.
It hasn't been entirely a pit hole as the team has had some strong play from second-year point guard Trae Young, who has emerged as one of the league's top scorers as he's third with 29.1 points along with being fourth with 8.5 assists per contest. Young has been as consistent as they come in the scoring department when healthy this year as he has been hitting his stride in his last five games, where he has scored at least 19 points along with going north of 30 points three times and more than 40 points twice. He has been one of the league's most consistent scorers, which the Hawks will need him to do that once against another struggling team in the Pistons on Saturday night on their home floor.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
This is one of the most difficult games to pick on the docket on Saturday as these two teams have struggled to get any headway throughout the season. They have each had struggles opposite ends of the court, which has made it hard to pick how things will unfold between them. However, the Hawks do have the edge with their roster being largely healthy that should see Young head the charge against an undermanned Pistons team that is without their best scorer. That may be the case, but it's hard to be completely confident but if I had to choose, Atlanta holds a slight edge.
Full-Game Total Pick
At the same time, this contest should see plenty of scoring between them as they have each had their fair share of issues defensively this season. That alone should see the Hawks' defensive woes flare up to create a high-scoring affair. That may be headlined by the battle between Rose and Young at the center of it all. Rose has been on fire with seven straight 20-point outings while Young has established himself as one of the best scorers in the league. All of that seemingly pushes this to being one of the more exciting games to watch behind the scoring.
