Sacramento Kings vs. Brooklyn Nets
NBA: Monday, January 21, 2019 at 3:30 PM EST
The Kings have won four of their last five games and while they are two games over .500 they are still out the top eight in the West, but not by much at all. On the season Sacto has a team that can light up the scoreboard, but their main issue has been on defense where they only rank 26th in the league giving up an average of 115.1 ppg. They are a .500 team in the last 10 games and on the season on the road they are not bad at 10-12.
The Nets have won three in a row and they have to one of the most surprising teams in the league. They were picked by most to finish at the bottom of the Eastern Conference, but with their last win they moved over .500 on the season and are in the 6th spot in the East. Brooklyn ranks in the middle of the pack in ppg and only 21st in points allowed, but their offense has come through as of late.
The Nets are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games facing the Kings.
Hield gets it done
In their last game, the Kings were on the road and beat the Detroit Pistons 103-101 where Buddy Hield went off in the 4th quarter and hit an off-balance game-winning 3 as time expired.

Sacramento outscored Detroit 29-19 in the 4th quarter and for the game, they shot a slight better FG% (44.9% to 43.9%). However, they shot a better 3-pt FG% and also had fewer turnovers. Hield led the Kings with 35 points on 13/22 shooting including hitting seven of his nine 3-pointers, De’Aaron Fox had a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists even though he was only 4/13 from thr floor, and rookie Marvin Bagley III had 14 points off the bench.
Hield leads six players for the Kings averaging in double figures at 20.5 ppg and he has totaled 59 points in his last two games hitting 13 of his 20 3-pointers. On the season, Sacramento is 10-12 on the road and they have covered the spread in 21 of their last 27 games facing teams from the Eastern Conference.
Russell helps in big comeback
The Nets were on the road in their last game beating the Orlando Magic 117-115 where D’Angelo Russell tied a career high with 40 points and Brooklyn came back from a 21-point deficit. The Nets outscored the Magic by 15 points in the 2nd half and got the W even though Orlando shot 50% from the floor and Brooklyn shot 45.4% from the floor. Russell went for 40 on 16/25 shooting hitting eight of his 12 3-pointers, Spencer Dinwiddie came off the bench to go for 20 points, and three reserves went for double figures.
Russell leads the team averaging 19 ppg and while the Nets beat the Rockets 145-142 in the game before the win over the Pistons he only had 10 points in that game. Still, he has scored at least 34 points in two of his last three games and he has to score and needs help since 2nd leading scorer Caris LeVert (18.4 ppg) is out with a foot injury. On the season, the Nets are 12-11 at home.
The Brooklyn Nets are:
- 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Monday games
The Sacramento Kings are:
- 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Monday games
- 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall
- 21-6 ATS in their last 27 vs. Eastern Conference
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
While the Nets have many solid betting trends and the Kings have failed to cover in five of their last six road games still picking Sacto in this game. The Nets have won three straight and covered in four in a row, but not jumping on the Brooklyn bandwagon. The Kings will play the Nets close in this non-conference game and while they may not win they will cover.
Prediction: PICK: Kings
Full-Game Total Pick
Both of these teams in this non-conference matchup are playing well and each is playing with confidence. Because of that look for each team to attack the rim and get it done on the offensive end of the floor. Also, in six of the last eight games between these teams the total has gone Over and that is the pick for this game as well.
Prediction: PICK: Over
