The surging Portland Trail Blazers are set to host to L.A. Clippers on Thursday night.
Clippers led by balanced effort
Through the first 10 games of the season, the Clippers have had a respectable start to the season holding 6-4 mark that has seen them win four out of the last six games has pushed them over the .500 mark. What has helped them get off on the right foot has been their balanced play on both ends of the floor currently being eighth in the league with 116.2 points per contest that have seen them topple 110 points in the last six games played. Forward Tobias Harris has led the charge offensively with a career-best start to the campaign behind a team-best 21.3 points while shooting 53.0 percent from the floor along with 42.2 percent from deep. Harris has been their most consistent scorer notching 20 or more points all but twice over the first 10 games while hitting multiple 3-pointers eight times over that stretch.

Meanwhile, forward Danilo Gallinari has been a major factor offensively with a career-best start to the year averaging 20.0 points on 44.9 percent shooting from the floor and 45.8 percent from distance. Gallinari has already registered seven games with 20 or more points while drilling three or more 3-pointers four times this year. The Clippers have also been an effective team defensively ranking 11th in the league giving up 109.8 points per contest. If the Clippers hope to continue to head in the right direction it will require them to have more balanced play on both ends of the floor with their frontcourt duo of Harris and Gallinari to lead the charge offensively.
Damian Lillard’s strong leading Trail Blazers
It has been nothing short of an encouraging start to the season for the Trail Blazers having won eight out of their first 11 games including four out of the last five contests. Portland has been one of the best offensive teams in the league ranking seventh with 117.3 points per contest, which including toppling more than 110 in each of the last four games played. All-Star point guard Damian Lillard has been the head of the snake offensively with 26.7 points on 46.8 percent shooting from the floor and 37.5 percent from distance. Lillard has notched 20 or more points eight times this season including a pair of 40-point performances. He has also hit multiple 3-pointers all but twice this year that includes five games game with three or more makes from beyond the arc.

Guard C.J. McCollum has also been off to a respectable start with 20.8 points per contest. This includes notching double-digit scoring all but once this season while cracking 20 or more points five times. McCollum is coming off his best performance of the season with 40 points on an efficient 17-of-26 shooting from the floor including hitting 5-of-10 attempts from beyond the arc in the 118-103 win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Tuesday night. The Trail Blazers’ dynamic backcourt duo of Lillard and McCollum has continued to be the staple to their offensive firepower on the season and should continue to be the case. Meanwhile, their defense has been solid ranking sixth in the league with 107.4 points per game allowed while being third allowing opposing teams to shoot 42.7 percent from the floor. This includes forcing three out of the last six opponents to notch fewer than 100 points.

The Trail Blazers have picked it up as of late behind their dynamic backcourt that should once again be the case with them continuing to stay on that same forward trend at home to grab their sixth win at Moda Center. It also helps that Portland is 4-1 ATS in the last meetings between the two teams.
