Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Washington Wizards
NBA: Friday, November 8, Capital One Arena, Washington, D.C., 7:00 PM ET
The Cleveland Cavaliers suffered the third consecutive defeat as they fell short to the Boston Celtics at home, in a game in which they trailed since the beginning. Cleveland now dropped to a 2-5 record and is in the 13th place in the Eastern Conference.
The Washington Wizards snapped the three-game losing streak with a win over Detroit but returned to the losing ways as the Indiana Pacers defeated them without problems. Washington also dropped to a 2-5 record and is one spot ahead of the Cavs in the East.
These teams met four times in 2018-19, and the home team was better on each occasion as the series ended 2-2.
The Cavaliers couldn't make a surprise and beat the CelticsCleveland was desperate to bounce back from a massive home loss to the Dallas Mavericks, and although they played better against Boston, the Celtics recorded a 119-113 victory in the end. The Cavaliers took a 2-0 lead in the opening minute, and that was the only time they were up in this clash. They shot only 41.7% from the floor opposite Boston's 56.5%. Collin Sexton led the Cavs with season-high 21 points. Tristan Thompson recorded another double-double, his sixth in seven games this season. He had 19 points, game-high 13 rebounds, and four assists, while Kevin Love added 17 points, nine boards, and two blocks – his worst performance of the year so far.
This season, the Cavaliers have the 23rd offense in the NBA that averages 106.1 points per game, and they are facing the Wizards' 25th defense that allows 118.1 points per contest. The Cavs are 12th in rebounds with 46.0 and 23rd in assists with 21.9 per game.
The Wizards scored just 44 second-half points in a loss to the PacersWashington managed to snap a three-game losing run with a home win over the Detroit Pistons, but they were powerless against the Indiana Pacers on the road. After a solid first half in which they scored 62 points, the Wizards added only 44 in the second 24 minutes and suffered a deserved 121-106 defeat. Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 30 points, five rebounds, and five assists, while Thomas Bryant posted a double-double of 20 points and team-high 11 boards. Rookie Rui Hachimura struggled again and finished the game with zero points on 0/5 shooting, and now he scored just 16 points in the previous three games in total.
"There was a point where we couldn't get stops," Beal said. "The whole second quarter and part of the third quarter hurt, too. We've got to defend better than what we did tonight."
The Wizards have the 6th offense in the NBA that averages 115.3 points per game, and they are facing the Cavaliers' 21st defense that allows 112.1 points per contest. The Wizards are 25th in rebounds with 43.3 and 5th in assists with 25.7 per game. Washington is the 3rd best team from the free-throw line (84.15).

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Although both teams are struggling at the moment, I am giving the Wizards a slight advantage in this one. Bradley Beal has a fantastic matchup against Collin Sexton, who is an awful defender, and Beal has a height advantage, so we're going to see a bunch of points from Bradley here. He already had one 40+ point game this season, and this one could easily be his second of the year. Cleveland has better players under the rims, and there is no doubt Thompson and Love will control the paint, but the Wizards can rely on Beal and Isaiah Thomas to lead them to the victory. The Cavs are winless on the road this season, while Washington won both H2H duels at Capital One Arena last year, and I am backing them to do it again.
Prediction: Washington Wizards -5 (-110)
Full-Game Total Pick
Both teams have leaky defenses and that’s why the total for this encounter is set at 229. Cleveland allowed even 250 points in the last two defeats to Dallas and Boston, but I am not going with Over because the Cavs are not efficient on the road this season. In three road games so far, Cleveland managed to score more than 100 points only once. Just two of the previous seven H2H duels produced more than 229 points. Washington is efficient at home while the Cavaliers are struggling on the road, and if this game was scheduled to be played in Cleveland, I would go with Over. In this case, I am backing Under.
Prediction: Under 229 (-110)
