We have a non-conference NBA matchup to consider for Friday night when the 1-7 New York Knicks meet the 5-2 Dallas Mavericks for game one of their two-game season series. New York is mired in a four-game losing streak and Dallas enters this game riding a two-game winning streak. This could turn out to be a very interesting game.
Knicks Four Game Losing StreakThe New York Knicks have been horrible this season and have successive losses road losses to Orlando Magic, Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons with a home loss to Sacramento thrown in for good measure. New York shoots 35 percent from downtown but its 42.5 percent shooting from the floor is second to last in the NBA and its 66.3 percent free throw shooting is dead last in the NBA and until something changes, the Knicks will continue to lose basketball games.

New York suffered a 20 point blowout road loss in their most recent outing to the Detroit Pistons. Julius Randle scored 20 points and Marcus Morris Sr added 18 points in a losing cause. New York lost the battle of the boards 49-40 but shot a miserable 61 percent from the foul line for their fourth consecutive loss and now they have to play the Mavericks in Dallas?
Dallas Two Game Winning StreakDallas is playing well and it appears that former New York Knicks forward Kristaps Porzingis has fit right next to Luka Doncic. The two Mavericks losses came against probable playoff teams Portland and the Lakers. It appears this Mavericks team is going to contend for a spot in this year's playoffs and they are going to be a handful for the Knicks on Friday.

The Mavericks snuck past an Orlando Magic by a score of 107-106. Wednesday marked the first time team Orlando scored over 100 points this season. Doncic led Dallas with 27 points, seven assists with seven rebounds and Maxi Kleber added 14 points to lead Dallas to its fifth victory of the season. Dallas shot 42.9 percent from the floor, 35.5 percent from downtown and 80 percent from the charity stripe. Orlando outrebounded Dallas 51-50 and committed 18 turnovers.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
New York can't shoot and can't score inside and if you foul them, it highly likely miss the free throws. They don't rebound well and they are a mess on both ends of the floor. Dallas is so much better than the Knicks. They shoot better, score better, defend better and is playing at home. Can't see how Dallas doesn't win this game by 15 points and I think that they will.
I will lay the wood and play Dallas to cover.
Prediction: Dallas -11 Points
Full-Game Total Pick
Neither team is considered defensive-minded but the knicks have trouble making layups and free throws and that makes it difficult to score points. Dallas has a nice offense but they won't get 110 points and I don't see the Knicks reaching 95 points. The Mavericks shot only 75 percent from the free-throw line and that will keep the score down.
I will play the UNDER in this matchup.
Prediction: Under 217
