Brooklyn Nets at Denver Nuggets
NBA: Friday, November 9, 2018 at 9:00 PM EST
The Nets have been one of the surprises on the young season, as after a terrible last season they can get to the .500 mark with a win in the Mile High City. They have won two in a row where the most points they gave up in the two games was 97. The defense has been the main reason Brooklyn is off to a decent start, as they rank in the top 10 in the league in points allowed.
The Nuggets have been an even bigger surprise than the Nets, as they are tied with the Milwaukee Bucks for the 2nd fewest losses in the league. They had their five-game win streak snapped in their last game where they only scored 87 points. However, that game was on the road and this season so far at home the Nuggets have not lost (6-0). The defense is also the strength of Denver, as they rank 2nd in the league in points allowed per game.
The Nets are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games facing the Nuggets and 4-1 ATS in their last five games against them in Denver.
Defense gets it done
The Nets were on the road in their last game and they beat the Phoenix Suns 104-82 led by a great defensive performance. While they did not have the best shooting night (44.6%) they held the Suns to a field goal percentage of only 34.6% and they had half as many turnovers (20-10). Brooklyn scored 21 fast break points to the Suns 10 and they scored 54 points in the paint only allowing 30. Four of five Nets’ starters went for double figures led by Caris LeVert, who went for 26 points on 10/16 shooting and reserve Ed Davis was one points shy of a double-double with nine points and 12 boards.
LeVert (20.5 ppg) and DeAngelo Russell (15.4 ppg) are the two leading scorers for Brooklyn and they have five players averaging over 11 ppg. LeVert is averaging 25 ppg in his last three games. On the season, the Nets are 2-4 on the road.
Not the best shooting game
The Nuggets were on the road in their last game and had their five-game winning streak snapped in an 89-87 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies where they did not shoot the rock well. Their D was not bad holding Memphis to a FG% of 42.9%, but they only shot 39% and while they made the same amount of 3-pointers as the Grizz (8) they took 11 more of them. Gary Harris led the team with 20 points and Jamal Murray had 15, but they were a combined 12/37 from the floor. Nikola Jokic is averaging nearly a double-double on the season (15.8 ppg 9.7 rpg), but was a no-show in the loss to Memphis with only four points and seven boards being hounded by foul trouble.

Murray and Harris are the leading scorers for Denver each averaging 18.5 ppg and six players for the team are averaging in double figures. Murray had blown up for 48 points on 19/30 shooting in the game before the loss to the
The Denver Nuggets are:
- 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
While the Denver offense is not a very high scoring one their offense was solid in their five-game winning streak before struggling to shoot the rock well in their last game. Back at home where they are 6-0 they will put it all together and have a much better shooting game and their defense will still play well. Denver will get the win in this game, stay perfect at home, and they will also cover the spread.
Prediction: PICK: Nuggets
Full-Game Total Pick
While the total has gone Over in five of the last six games between these teams that trend will not continue in this game. Early in the season both teams have solid defenses, especially Denver, but neither has a great offense. Defense will be the name of the game in this non-conference game and because of that it will be. low scoring affair, so the Under is the way to go.
