Chicago Bulls vs. Sacramento Kings

NBA: Monday, December 2, Golden 1 Center, Sacramento, California, 10:00 PM ET

The Chicago Bulls edged the Charlotte Hornets on the road but suffered three consecutive defeats since, including the most recent one to the Portland Trail Blazers. Chicago dropped to a 6-14 record and is in the 12th position in the Eastern Conference.

The Sacramento Kings returned home from a four-game road trip on the East and three losses but responded with an overtime victory over the Denver Nuggets. The Kings improved to an 8-10 record and are in the 9th place in the Western Conference.

The inter-conference rivals met twice in 2018-19, and Sacramento swept the series with a couple of big wins. The Kings were better in four of the previous five H2H encounters.

The Bulls fell short to the Blazers on the road

Chicago suffered the second loss to the Portland Trail Blazers in four days. After losing 117-94 at home, the Bulls were much closer to get a win on the road, but the Blazers prevailed in the end, 107-103. The second quarter proved to be costly for the Bulls as they lost it by nine points. Also, they shot just 38.3% from the field. Zach LaVine led Chicago with 28 points, six rebounds, and five assists. Wendell Carter Jr. added 16 points, nine boards, and two steals, while Lauri Markkanen had 13 points and eight rebounds. Otto Porter Jr. (foot) and Cristiano Felicio (wrist) are out indefinitely, while Chandler Hutchison (shoulder) is questionable to face Sacramento on Monday.

"This loss hurts, this is a painful loss, every loss these guys take hurts," Bulls coach Jim Boylen said. "This was a hard-fought game, give them credit."

This season, the Bulls have the 25th offense in the NBA that averages 106.1 points per game, and they are facing the Kings' 11th defense that allows 107.6 points per contest. The Bulls are 22nd in rebounds with 44.1 and 22nd in assists with 23.0 per game.

The Kings edged the Nuggets in overtime

Sacramento suffered three defeats on a four-game road trip on the East but bounced back with a narrow home victory over the Denver Nuggets. The Kings never led in a game in regulation and forced overtime as Richaun Holmes blocked Jamal Murray in dying seconds. Sacramento took a 92-90 lead in overtime, their first of the tilt, and then secured a 100-97 win, handing the Nuggets the first loss in seven games. Harrison Barnes led the Kings with season-high 30 points, along with five rebounds, and a pair of thefts. Buddy Hield chipped in with 21 points and seven boards, Richaun Holmes recorded a double-double of 13 points and ten rebounds, while Nemanja Bjelica had an excellent all-around display with ten points, game-high 12 boards, and five assists.

"That's largely my role, to come in to help where needed," Barnes said. "Some nights it's scoring. Some nights it's rebounding, some night it's defense. Some nights it simply just making the right play. That's something I try to do consistently for this team."

This season, the Kings have the 28th offense in the NBA that averages 104.2 points per game, and they are facing the Bulls' 16th defense that allows 110.3 points per contest. The Kings are 29th in rebounds with 41.8 and 23rd in assists with 22.7 per game.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

Sacramento is playing very well at home lately. The Kings won each of the last five games at Golden 1 Center and defeated teams such as the Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics, and Denver Nuggets, all of which are much better than Chicago. The Bulls are mostly relying on Zach LaVine offensively, while the Kings have several players who can decide the game, which was evident in a win over Denver when Harrison Barnes dominated. Sacramento is playing excellent defense at home, while Chicago is struggling on offense recently. Buddy Hield has a great matchup, and I am backing him to lead the Kings to the fifth consecutive victory over the Bulls.

Prediction: Sacramento Kings -4.5 (-110)

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

While the Kings are playing excellent D, especially at home, they are not very good offensively. Sacramento scored 110+ points only twice in the previous nine games, and they are facing an average Chicago's defense. The Bulls kept the opponents to under 110 points in three of the last six games. Chicago is also not playing well on offense recently, and that's why I don't expect to see a bunch of baskets in this one. The total is set at 212, and unless we have overtime, it's going to be very hard for these rivals to combine for more than 210 points. I am going with Under.

Prediction: Under 212 (-110)
