New York Knicks (23-36) at Orlando Magic (18-39)

NBA: Thursday, February 22, 2018, at 7:00 p.m. ET

The New York Knicks hit the road to take on the Orlando Magic for a Thursday night contest. Orlando has won both meetings against New York this season. In their most recent meeting on Dec. 3, the Magic beat the Knicks 105-100. Nikola Vucevic led the Magic with 34 points and 12 rebounds. The good news for the Magic is that Vucevic (hand) and Aaron Gordon (hip) are expected to play. Gordon leads the Magic as he is averaging 18.4 points and 8.3 rebounds. Unfortunately, the Knicks are without their star, Kristaps Porzingis who is out with a torn ACL injury. Michael Beasley is averaging 18.8 points and nine rebounds since Porzingis went down (4 games). Both teams will most likely miss the playoffs as expected.

Knicks fall to Wizards

The New York Knicks lost 118-113 to the Washington Wizards on last Wednesday night. New York led by as many as 27 points before getting outscored 39-15 in the third quarter. Tim Hardaway Jr. had 37 points on 6-of-9 from 3-point range. Enes Kanter wound up with 24 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. The Wizards out-rebounded the Knicks 45-42 in the contest. Washington shot 55 percent from the field and New York shot 46 percent. Michael Beasley went for 16 points and 11 rebounds in the loss. The Knicks had no answer for Bradley Beal who had 36 points and seven assists. Washington committed 12 turnovers and New York had 10.

Magic fall to Hornets

Last Wednesday night, the Orlando Magic lost 104-102 to the Charlotte Hornets. Mario Hezonja led the Magic with 20 points and 10 rebounds. D.J. Augustin had 16 points on 4-of-6 from 3-point range. Charlotte shot 43 percent from the field and Orlando shot 42 percent. The Magic out-rebounded the Hornets 48-45 in the contest. Evan Fournier went for 13 points but he only shot 5-of-15 from the field. Orlando had no answer for Dwight Howard who had 22 points and 13 rebounds. Hezonja is averaging 16.1 points and 5.5 rebounds over the last 10 games. The Magic committed 20 turnovers and the Hornets had 12.

The New York Knicks are:

  • 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games.
  • 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. NBA Southeast.
  • 0-6 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss.

The Orlando Magic are:

  • 4-0 ATS in their last 4 when their opponent allows 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • 11-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a straight up loss.
  • 6-1 ATS in their last 7 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.

New York will get big games from Beasley and Hardaway Jr. but it won’t be enough. Look for the return of the Magic frontcourt to ignite the Magic to victory.
