Dallas Mavericks (21-46) at New York Knicks (24-43)

NBA: Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at 7:30 p.m. ET

The Dallas Mavericks hit the road to take on the New York Knicks for a Tuesday night contest. On Jan. 7, the Knicks beat the Mavericks 100-96. Kristaps Porzingis led the Knicks with 29 points and eight rebounds. Unfortunately the Knicks are without Porzingis who is out with a torn ACL injury. New York has lost seven straight games. The Knicks are 21st in the league in scoring (104 ppg), and 19th in defense (107.6 ppg). Tim Hardaway Jr. (17.4 ppg) leads the Knicks scoring attack. Dallas has lost four of their last six games. The Mavericks have been abysmal on offense as they’re averaging 102.3 points (27th). Harrison Barnes is putting up 18.4 points and 6.4 rebounds.

Mavericks fall to Rockets

The Dallas Mavericks lost 105-82 to the Houston Rockets on Sunday. Houston used a 57-35 second half to take command. Dwight Powell led the Mavericks with 20 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Harrison Barnes had 14 points but he only shot 4-of-16 from the field. The Rockets shot 46 percent from the field and the Mavericks shot 35 percent. Dallas out-rebounded Houston 43-35 in the contest. Dirk Nowitzki wound up with 13 points and six rebounds in the loss. Nerlens Noel added 10 points and nine rebounds in 15 minutes. Dallas had no answer for Eric Gordon who had 26 points on 6-of-11 from 3-point range.

Knicks defense struggles in loss

The New York Knicks lost 132-106 to the Toronto Raptors on Sunday afternoon. Toronto used a 65-57 first half to take command of the game. Hardaway Jr. led the Knicks with 25 points. Luke Kornet had 18 points on 3-of-7 from 3-point range in the loss. The Raptors shot 51 percent from the field and the Knicks shot 46 percent. Toronto out-rebounded New York 52-37 in the contest. Michael Beasley wound up with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Emmanuel Mudiay added 13 points and five assists. New York struggled to contain a Raptors team that had seven players reach double-figures. The Raptors committed 11 turnovers and the Knicks had 10.

The Dallas Mavericks are:

  • 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home.
  • 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss of more than 10 points.
  • 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Tuesday games.

The New York Knicks are:

  • 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games overall.
  • 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games following an ATS loss.
  • 3-14 ATS in their last 17 games playing on 1 days rest.

New York has a slight edge with Kanter and Hardaway Jr. in this contest. However, I expect Barnes and Smith Jr. to lead the Mavericks to a rare road win.
