Detroit Pistons at Utah Jazz
NBA: Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City, Utah at 9:00 PM ET, Tuesday, March 13, 2018
The Detroit Pistons head to Salt Lake City to face the Utah Jazz from the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Tuesday night. Both teams are coming into this game on the back of wins in their previous games.
Pistons win, but still lots of work to do
After four consecutive defeats, the Detroit Pistons put in a clinical game against the Chicago Bulls, beating them 99-83 to move to 30-36 for the season. They are still well below the requirements for the postseason though.
“I thought our defense was pretty good all night, but the offense didn’t really get going until the second quarter,” Pistons coach Stan Van Gundy said. “After that, we played really well.”
Blake Griffin had another productive game, scoring 25 points with eight rebounds and eight assists. Reggie Bullock scored 21 points, Andre Drummond had 17 rebounds.
Jazz win six straight, make play for postseason
The Utah Jazz continue to roll in the NBA. They have now won six games on the bounce, the latest result a 116-99 win against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Jazz are now 37-30 for the season, preparing for the final surge to take them to the playoffs.
Ricky Rubio had 30 points with 10 rebounds. Donovan Mitchell finished with 27 points. Joe Ingles scored 20 points, while Rudy Gobert chipped in with another double-double: 19 points and 16 rebounds.
“I just try to play aggressive. In the first half the shots fell down, especially the 3s, and I felt confidence and I kept attacking,” Rubio said. “I’m playing with a lot of confidence and I felt good.”
Detroit Pistons are:
- 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
- 0-7 ATS in their last 7 road games.
- 0-5 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
Utah Jazz are:
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.
- 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
- 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference.
The Jazz are in terrific form. They have found a different level to their offensive fluency. And that should help them tremendously against a Pistons team that has not had the same consistency.
