Brooklyn Nets vs. Los Angeles Lakers
Where and when: Staples Center, Los Angeles, California, Friday, 10:35 pm EST
The Brooklyn Nets will continue their seven-game West Coast swing on Friday night as they will visit the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, to battle the Los Angeles Lakers at 10:35 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. The Nets were able to halt a three-game losing streak in their last time out versus the Sacramento Kings as D’Angelo Russell scored 27 of his 44 points in the 4th quarter in which to lead the Nets to victory. Russell has posted a total of 76 points in the last two games for Brooklyn.
On the other hand, the Los Angeles Lakers lost their fourth straight contest as they fell to the Milwaukee Bucks on the road in a game where Giannis Antetokounmpo along with LeBron James did not play. However, Khris Middleton powered in a double-double with 30 points along with 10 rebounds for the Bucks in the victory. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 35 for the Lakers in defeat while Kyle Kuzma chipped in 17 points, as well.
Nets back on track after win over Kings
The Brooklyn Nets have had to endure a deflating, seven-game road trip thus far as they came up short in their first three outings. However, versus the Sacramento Kings, the Nets were able to pick up a slim, two-point victory in the end behind a monster performance from D’Angelo Russell, who has scored 30 or more points in two straight outings for Brooklyn. Furthermore, Russell also chipped in 12 assists in the victory as well. Finally, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson along with Jared Allen chipped in 14 and 13 points for the Nets, who are looking to pick up their second straight victory with a win over the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Nets shot an outstanding 48% from the floor while connecting on 14 three-pointers in their last time out versus the Lakers on December 18th, 2018. Russell struggled on the night in this contest in going 9-22, yet led the team with 22 points in the victory. In addition to Russell, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson along with Jared Allen scored 19 and 17 points, respectively, as Hollis-Jefferson pulled down eight rebounds, as well. It will be important to note that Russell also dished out 13 assists in the contest while going 4-7 from long range. The Lakers, on the other hand, got 36 points 13 rebounds along with 8 assists from LeBron James while Kyle Kuzma had 22 points while also pulling down 11 rebounds in defeat.
Lakers woes continue with loss versus Bucks
The playoff chances for the Los Angeles Lakers have almost completely dwindled at this point in the season as they have gone 1-9 in their last 10 outings. Also, LeBron James continues to suffer from a groin injury as the team may be looking into shutting him down, altogether, for the season.
Nonetheless, without James in the lineup, the Lakers were able to remain competitive versus the Bucks until a third-quarter outburst which saw Milwaukee outscore the road team by a margin of 38 – 26 in which to regain control of the game. And while the Lakers were able to make good on a whopping 16 3-pointers on the night, they shot 38% as a team in the loss while allowing the Bucks 46%. Caldwell-Pope was responsible for eight three-pointers on the night as he led the team with 35 points, as stated, while Kuzma ended a terrible 4-17 from the field along with 2-8 from long range with 17 points. Rajon Rondo recorded a double-double with 14 points along with 10 assists, yet committed seven turnovers in the loss.

In all, the Lakers have been up and down on the offensive end all season while their defense, which allows 46% shooting to opponents on a nightly basis, has allowed teams to be much too efficient from the floor. Lance Stephenson is out for this contest with a toe injury while Brandon Ingram along with Lonzo Ball were lost for the season due to arm and ankle injuries.
- Over is 4-0 in Lakers last 4 games playing on 2 days rest.
- Under is 7-0 in Lakers last 7 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Lakers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Friday games.
- Under is 4-0 in Nets last 4 games following a straight up win.
- Under is 5-1 in Nets last 6 games playing on 2 days rest.
- Over is 5-1 in Nets last 6 Friday games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Lakers are reeling at this point in the season as they have dropped nine of their last ten games, overall. Furthermore, combine this with the fact that LeBron James continues to be questionable with a groin injury while Lance Stephenson is also out indefinitely due to a toe injury, and one can certainly side with the visitors in this contest. And while the Nets are only in fourth place within the Atlantic division, they continue to get productive outings from D’Angelo Russell on a nightly basis. In all, Russell should get a bit of payback with the victory over a Lakers team that traded him away only a few years ago.
Prediction: Pick: Brooklyn Nets -140
Full-Game Total Pick
Despite offensive production for the Lakers being dismal in recent games, look for them to put some points on the board on the Brooklyn Nets in this contest. In fact, the Nets have allowed opponents to score a tad under 120 points per game in their last three outings. The Lakers, on the other hand, are also coming off a rough set of outings to wear their defense seemed to be non-existent throughout. With that being said, look for the total to certainly surpasses its set limit in what will be an up-and-down, fast-paced contest throughout.
Prediction: Pick: Over 230.5
Full-Game Prop Bet
The Nets picked up a huge, momentum-building victory over the Kings in their last outing. With that being said, look for them to roll over a life-less Lakers squad that have nothing to play for at this moment.
Prediction: Pick: Brooklyn Nets -2.5
Half-Time Side Pick
Look for the Nets to control the pace of this game as they will get yet another outstanding performance from Russell on this night. And while the Lakers will attempt to remain competitive, the visitors will dominate this game early and often as they will cover the points at the half.
Prediction: Pick: Brooklyn Nets -1
Half-Time Total Bet
With the way that both offenses have struggled, look for the under to be the play at the half amongst the Lakers and the Nets. The Lakers are riddled with injury while the Nets, aside from Russell and Hollis-Jefferson, tends to experience lulls on offense as well. With that being said, look for this to be a low-scoring affair at the break.
Prediction: Pick: Under 112
Half-Time Prop Prediction
Look for the Nets to cash in on the money line at the break due to their ability to neutralize an inconsistent Lakers offense. In addition to this, they will also be more efficient on offense as Russell will push the pace constantly in what will be a convincing win.
Prediction: Pick: Brooklyn Nets -120
