Houston Rockets vs Utah Jazz

Where: Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City Utah

When: Saturday, April 20, 2019, 10:30 pm Eastern

We have a first-round Western Conference Playoff matchup to consider when the Houston Rockets and Utah Jazz meet for game three of their best of seven series on Saturday night. Houston has a 2-0 series lead and heads back to Salt Lake City to face the Jazz. I’m the Flash and am happy to be discussing this contest with you today.

Houston is on a Roll

Houston has taken a commanding 2-0 lead over the Jazz by blowing Utah out in Houston by the score of 122-90 in game one and a 118-98 blowout win in game two. James Harden is averaging a triple-double in this series 30 points, 10.5 rebounds and 10 assists per game to lead the Rockets. Eric Gordon has reassumed his sixth man duties and is scoring 16.5 points per game including three triples per night and Chris Paul is averaging 15.5 points per game and five assists.

The Rockets aren’t listing any injuries for their Saturday night matchup with Utah.

Houston split their season series 2-2 and one of those two wins came in Salt Lake City. The Rockets had a regular season road record of 22-19 this season and are riding a two-game winning streak.

This series with Utah, the Rockets are averaging 120 points per game with eight offensive rebounds, 36 defensive caroms and dishing 21 assists per game.

Mitchell Riding the Struggle Bus

Utah has had a difficult time on both ends of the floor during this series, allowing 120 points per game while averaging just 94 points per game. That won’t be good enough to defeat the Rockets. Rudy Gobert leads the Jazz with 16.5 points per game and a dozen caroms. Ricky Rubio is also having a solid series with 16 points and 7.5 assists and leading scorer Donovan Mitchell is averaging just 15 points per game for the Jazz. If the Jazz wants to win this series, Mitchell needs to resemble the 23.8 points per game scorer rather than the one riding the struggle bus in this series.

The Jazz isn’t listing any significant injuries for their Saturday night matchup with Houston.

The season series was a 2-2 split with each side winning one at home and one game on the road. Utah was 29-12 at home during the regular season and hoping to end a three-game losing streak.

Utah is averaging 94 points per game during this series with 11 offensive boards, 33.5 defensive rebounds and dishing 22 assists per game this series.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

I have a feeling that Utah is going to win this game but I don’t see them covering the spread. The Jazz hasn’t been able to mount any type of offensive or defensive challenge to the Rockets and all of that begins and ends with Donovan Mitchell. He hasn’t played well yet this series and maybe being at home will help him get it together. I saw the following trends for this specific matchup I think might be helpful for Saturday night.

  • Rockets are 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings.
  • Rockets are 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Utah.

We make “Cash with the Flash” when we take the points and go with the Rockets on Saturday night.

Prediction: Rockets Plus Three Points

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

With all things being equal, we expect the Jazz to come out and do Jazz type things like play defense for 48 minutes and maybe score enough points to sneak out a two-point victory at home. Because I don’t see the Jazz winning by much more than that. IF they win.  I saw the following matchup specific trends I think might be helpful for Saturday night;

  • Under is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Utah.

When I did the math and added everything together, I came up with 207 points and that’s about the most I see being scored. We make “Cash with the Flash when we play the under on Saturday night.

Prediction: Under 216 Points
