Los Angeles Clippers vs Golden State Warriors

Where: Oracle Arena, Oakland California

When: Wednesday, April 24, 2019, 10:30 pm Eastern

Game Five of the Western Conference First Round playoff series between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors is set for Wednesday night in Oakland, California. Golden State has a commanding 3-1 lead over the pesky Clippers in what has turned into a chippy affair. I’m the Flash and will be discussing this matchup with you today.

Clippers Know How to Compete

The Clippers have hung tough throughout this series and sadly for them, the Warriors have been too good for them. Los Angeles has their moments, but Golden State with their four All-Star starters always seem to find a way to thwart anything positive that Los Angeles does. That’s led to some frustration and with that comes some chippy play. The Clippers lost game four at home by a score of 113-105 Clippers Head Coach Doc Rivers had this to say about this series;

“The rebounding really hurt us again,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “Right now, they are crushing us on the glass.”

The Clippers aren’t listing any injuries for game five on Wednesday night.

During this series, the Clippers are averaging 112.3 points per game with 8.8 offensive rebounds, 37.5 defensive rebounds and dropping an average of 25.3 dimes per game in the four previous games with Golden State.

Warriors Can Eliminate Clippers Wednesday Night

Golden State is doing what almost everyone thought that they would, and that’s defeating the Clippers and has a 3-1 series lead with game five on their home floor. Klay Thompson scored 32 points in game four and had this to say about Game Four.

“We came in with that mindset to put our foot on the throttle and not let go,” Thompson said. “We let go in Game 2 and we won’t do that the rest of the playoffs. I really believe that.”

The Warriors haven’t been able to avoid the injury bug in this series. DeMarcus Cousins is out for the rest of the playoffs with a quadriceps tear. Cousins was averaging 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game on 12.5 minutes during the playoffs. Draymond Green is listed as questionable for Wednesday night with a hand injury and his absence would have a great impact on the Warriors. Green is averaging 9.3 points per game with 6.5 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game and is considered as the heart and soul of the Warriors.

Golden State is scoring an average of 124.3 points per game this series with 10 offensive rebounds, 37.8 defensive rebounds and dishing 31 assists per game against the Clippers.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet

I have no doubt the Golden State Warriors are going to win this playoff game but I don’t believe they will cover this spread of 14 points. It’s true that two of the Warriors wins were by more than 14 points but the Clippers played tough in the other two games and they won’t go down without a fight. In fact, there might be an actual fight at Oracle Arena on Friday night. Golden State has covered just 41 percent of the time they were home favorites and the Clippers have covered 50 percent of the time as the road underdog. We have to go with the numbers and make “Cash with the Flash” by taking the 14 points and playing the Clippers on Wednesday night.

Prediction: Clippers +14 Points

Full-Game Total Pick

This is going to be a fast-paced high scoring game on Wednesday night. These two sides are playing the fastest of the 16 playoff teams and I expect the same on Wednesday night. Both sides are also shooting over 47 percent in this series so we have plenty to lead us to believe a high score should be in the cards. I saw the following trends that might be helpful for us on Wednesday night.

  • Warriors are 10-21-1 ATS in their last 32 home games.
  • Warriors are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up win.

When I did the math and added everything together, I came up with a total of 236.5 points and thought that might be low. We make “Cash with the Flash” when we play the over on Wednesday night.

Prediction: Over 235 Points
