Cal Riverside Highlanders vs. UC Santa Barbara Gauchos
NCAAB Basketball: Saturday, January 12th 2019 10:00 PM EST TIME
The Cal Riverside Highlanders are looking to bounce back from their dreadful loss as they enter this game taking on the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos.
The UC Riverside Highlander team saw one of the worse losses on the season happen on Wednesday as they saw a buzzer beater ruin their happy night. It was supposed to be a happy ending for the Highlanders as they were opening up conference play against the CSUN Matadors. The Matadors would be victorious in this one with a final score of 84-83. The Highlanders will have a lot of questions to answer about their performance as they led by almost ten points in that loss in the second half. The team went flat in the final minutes as the Highlanders will try for round two on Saturday.

In the loss, the Highlanders still had a pretty successful day shooting the ball. The Highlanders would be launching balls left and right as they went on to drop 40 points on .469 shooting thanks to a fast run out of the game. If they are able to keep that fast pace offense going, they could have a chance here. Especially if Junior Dikymbe Martin can lead the charge again.
An Impressive 2nd Half Win
Unlike the Highlanders, the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos did not let a lead slip away in their last game and went on to victory. The Gauchos instead used an impressive run in the second half to cap off the win against the Cal Poly Broncos. It was an impressive 19-5 run that carried the 65-56 win in the conference opener. Now the Gauchos come into this game with having an overall record of 12-3 with having that lone perfect win in conference play. The win was Santa Barbara’s fourth straight and its sixth in the last seven games. Now they take that historic 12-3 record (which is the best start in school history since the 1988 season) back home to take on the Highlanders.

In that win, it was all about guards Ar’mond Davis and Robinson who finished off the night leading the team. Davis would end the night with adding 11 points in the win along with seven rebounds as Robinson finished with eight rebounds and nine points. Watch out for the Gauchos defense as well as they held Cal Poly to 37.7% overall shooting and 28.0% from three-point range.
- Gauchos are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a ATS loss.
- Gauchos are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Saturday games.
- Gauchos are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games following a straight up win.
- Highlanders are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games.
- Highlanders are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS win.
- Highlanders are 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 road games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Gauchos are having a historic season so far and that will not be stopped against a team that just allowed CSUN to walk all over them. With the Gauchos being at home and having zero losses to their name there, give me the line as they cover with ease.
Full-Game Total Pick
With the Gauchos having one of the best defenses in the conference, I do expect them to keep this a low scoring game. The Highlanders have yet to win on the road as that will play a factor in the Under hitting. The Under is 12-3 in Gauchos last 15 vs. a team with a losing straight up record as well as 38-16-2 in Gauchos last 56 home games vs. a team with a losing road record.
