The Drexel Dragons will be looking for their ninth win of the season when they travel to the Trask Coliseum to take on the UNC Wilmington Seahawks. Drexel enters this game with an 8-10 record after beating Charleston in its last game. Meanwhile, UNC Wilmington is 6-10 this season as it lost to Delaware in its last game. Now, both teams will be looking to improve on their respective records this Saturday.
Drexel Wins Thriller Against Charleston
Last season, the Drexel Dragons went 13-20 and looked like one of the worst teams in the CAA conference. This season, Drexel has looked slightly better as the team has won eight of its first 18 games. However, after losing three of its first four conference games this season, the team managed to upset Charleston on the road as the team snuck away with a one point win. In that game, Drexel’s offense was solid as the team scored 79 points while shooting over 47% from the floor. Although this Drexel team has struggled for the bulk of this season, this upset win could be the turning point that this program needed in order to salvage its season.

Drexel is led by senior guard Troy Harper who has been fantastic this season. This season, Harper is currently leading the team in scoring with 16.2 points per game along with 3.0 rebounds. However, he has been inefficient from the floor as he is only shooting 41% from the floor. As the best player on this year’s team, Harper better start shooting the ball a bit better if Drexel plans on winning this road game.
Wilmington Continues To Struggle Defensively
Last season, the UNC Wilmington Seahawks went 11-21 and were a below average team in the CAA conference. This season, the team has looked the same as the team has only won six of its first 17 games. However, the team did manage to win two of its first three conference games this season before losing to Delaware in its last game. In that game, Wilmington’s defense was awful as the team allowed 82 points on over 51% from the floor. The team’s defense has been the main reason for the team’s struggles as the team possesses the 319th scoring defense in the country as it allows 80.6 points per game. If the team plans on turning its season around, its defense better improve.
UNC Wilmington is led by senior forward Devontae Cacok who has been fantastic this season. This season, Cacok is currently leading the team in scoring and rebounding with 14.4 points per game along with 11.6 rebounds. However, he has also been efficient from the floor as he is shooting a whopping 60.1% from the floor. As the best player on this year’s team, he better continue to dominate in the paint if the team plans on winning this game.
- Seahawks are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home.
- Dragons are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
- Dragons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Overall, I think that this Drexel team is miles ahead of this UNC Wilmington team and I do not think home court advantage will play a big role in this one. Drexel is coming off of a fantastic road victory against a quality foe and possesses a quality offense that should be able to abuse this terrible Wilmington defense. Drexel has also owned the series between these teams in recent years so I will take the road team in this one.
Full-Game Total Pick
Both teams in this matchup have solid offenses and below average defenses which should lead to a lot of points in this one. UNC Wilmington has one of the worst defenses in college basketball and I think that Drexel will score at least 80 points in this game. This total seems a bit low but I think that this game will turn into a shootout. Give me the over in this one as a result.
