Georgia Tech will both be looking for its tenth win of the season when the team travels to the Carrier Dome to take on the Syracuse Orange. Georgia Tech is currently 9-6 after losing to Virginia Tech in its last game. Meanwhile, Syracuse enters this game with an 11-4 record after beating Clemson in its last game. Now, both teams will be looking to improve upon their respective records in this one.
Georgia Tech Looks For Bounce-Back Win
Last season, the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets went 13-19 and lost in the first round of its conference tournament to Boston College. This season, Georgia Tech has looked significantly better as the team is currently 9-6. Specifically, the team has been great on the defensive end as the team currently possesses the 14th-best scoring defense in the league. In the team’s last game, Georgia Tech’s defense played remarkably well despite the final result. In that game, the team’s defense only gave up 52 points on less than 30% shooting from the floor despite Virginia Tech’s ability to sneak away with a win. With a worse offense up next, look for Georgia Tech to play well defensively.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are led by sophomore guard Jose Alvarado who was a huge factor on last year’s team. Last season, Alvarado was extremely solid as he averaged 12.1 points per game along with 3.7 rebounds. However, he has managed to duplicate last year’s excellence this season as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 13.6 points per game along with 3.7 rebounds. If Georgia Tech plans on pulling off this road upset, he will have to carry the offensive load.
Syracuse Looks For Fifth Straight Win
Last season, the Syracuse Orange went 23-14 and lost in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament to Duke. This season, Syracuse has looked just as good as it did last year as the team is currently 11-4. Specifically, the team has been great on the defensive end as the team currently possesses the 11th-best scoring defense in the league. The team is also in the middle of a four-game winning streak including a quality win over Clemson. In the team’s last game, Syracuse’s defense played remarkably well as it carried the Orange to a home victory. In that game, the team’s defense only gave up 53 points on less than 36% shooting from the floor. With a worse offense up next, look for Syracuse to play well defensively.
The Syracuse Orange are led by junior guard Tyus Battle who was a huge factor on last year’s team. Last season, Battle was extremely solid as he averaged 19.2 points per game along with 2.9 rebounds. However, he has played well once again this season as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 17.5 points per game along with 3.1 rebounds. If Syracuse plans on covering this spread at home, he has to play well in this one.
- Under is 4-0 in Orange last 4 home games.
- Under is 5-1 in Orange last 6 games following a ATS win.
- Under is 9-2 in Orange last 11 overall.
- Under is 5-0 in Yellow Jackets last 5 road games following three or more consecutive home games.
- Under is 5-1 in Yellow Jackets last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Overall, I think that this Syracuse team is a lot better than this Georgia Tech team and Syracuse is fantastic at home. Syracuse has a lot of experienced players and I think that the leaders will step up in this one. Georgia Tech is a very crafty team but I cannot see how this team will score against Syracuse’s elite 2-3 zone defense. I’ll take the home favorite as a result.
Full-Game Total Pick
Both teams in this matchup have struggled mightily this season when it comes to putting the ball in the basket and both teams also possess top-15 defenses. Both of these teams have the ability to limit each other to less than 60 points if needed and I think this game will be a very low scoring contest. This total seems a bit low but I believe it is low for a reason. Give me the under in this one as a result.
