Hofstra Pride vs. Elon Phoenix
Where and when: Schar Center, Elon, North Carolina, Saturday, 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time
The Hofstra Pride will travel to the Schar Center in Elon, North Carolina, for a Saturday matchup versus the Elon Phoenix at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. This contest will certainly be a matchup of two teams trending in different directions as the Phoenix are losers of their last three games as they fell to the Northeastern Huskies at home in their last outing as they were certainly awful from the perimeter in shooting just 39% from the floor. Also, 16 turnovers did not bode well for them picking up winning this contest either and they dropped their eighth game in their last 10 outings.
On the other hand, the Hofstra Pride won their 10th straight game as they were able to take out the Tribe of William and Mary on the road in their last outing thanks to their ability to connect on 11 3-pointers while also taking advantage of 18 turnovers by William and Mary en route to the victory. The road team is 7 – 1 against the spread in the last eight meeting amongst these two teams.
Huskies grind out victory over Phoenix
Despite their poor shooting in their last outing, the Phoenix possessed two 20 points scorers during the contest in Steven Santa Ana along with Tyler Seibring who scored 22 and 20 points, respectively, for an Elon team that connected on just seven of 25 three-point attempts. On the other hand, the Phoenix allowed Northeastern to shoot slightly better at 40% as each of their starters scored in double-figures led by Vasa Pusica, who finished with 19 points while also pulling down seven boards in the much-needed victory for the Huskies.

The story continues to be the same for the Phoenix as their offense has not been able to maintain any type of consistency throughout the season. On the other hand, the defense is allowing opponents to shoot a tad under 46% on the floor on a nightly basis, which will certainly not create a successful environment. Nonetheless, Elon seeks to turn the tide versus a Hofstra team that has been on a roll lately on both sides of the ball. Of course, the Phoenix will certainly need to bring their A-game for this matchup as Hofstra ranks within the top 50 as it relates to points scored as well as overall shooting percentage per outing with 48%.
Pride continues streak with hard fought victory over Tribe
Aside from averaging over 82 points and, as stated, shooting at a 48% clip on a nightly basis, the Hofstra pride is ranked 51st in the nation in 3-point shooting at 37% as well. And while they did not shoot well at all versus the Tribe of William and Mary in their last outing at 40%, they were able to connect on 11 3-pointers on the night while shooting well from the free throw line in which to pull out the victory. Also, 18 turnovers certainly assisted the road team in picking up a win as well as Justin Wright Foreman led the team with 37 points while pulling down seven rebounds in the much-needed victory for Hofstra; Yet, he went 2-14 from three-point range on the night.

Also Jaylen Ray provided a huge lift off the bench by going 5-2 from three-point range while ending with 19 points for the Pride as well. Hofstra’s defense, which had played very well leading up to this matchup, allowed William and Mary to shoot 45% for the game while also permitting them to make good on 10 three-pointers on the night as Nathan Right along with Justin Pierce spearheaded the offensive attack with 31 along with 24 points for the home team in a losing effort.
And while Hofstra certainly did not make this game easy for themselves, they look to get back to basics, particularly on the defensive end of the floor, in which two have a much better outing on both sides of the floor versus the struggling Elon Phoenix. It would be important to note that Elon has lost five of their last six home games while the Pride will be looking to win their fifth straight road game, overall, in this matchup on Saturday.
- Phoenix are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 home games
- Under is 27-10 in Phoenix last 37 Sat. games
