Indiana State will travel to Evansville to take on a conference foe. Evansville is coming off a win against Loyola-Chicago 67-48. Indiana State was taken down by Missouri State in their last game 72-57. Evansville comes into this game 10-4 ATS and 8-1 on their home court. Indiana State is 7-6 ATS and has struggled on the road winning just two of five games. These teams have split their last 10 meetings. This game should be no different considering the state of these teams. Evansville comes in at 8-8 while Indiana state is 9-6. Despite their overall record, Evansville is ahead in conference play by a game.
Evansville Searching for Consistency
The Aces are coming off a dominating win against Loyola-Chicago but they have struggled to find consistency all season. They are 8-8 on the year and have not had a longer streak, winning or losing, of two games. They have alternated between wins and losses in their last five but will look to make it two in a row against Indiana State. Evansville took a 12-point lead at halftime against the Ramblers and that was enough thanks to their play on the defensive end. they held their opponent to just one made three while they knocked down eight. The Aces had three guys on double-figures led by K.J. Riley who finished with 15 points and seven assists.

Riley, who attended the Standard of Excellence Basketball Academy in the Bronx, leads the Aces with 14.2 points per game. He is averaging 18 points per game over the team’s last five. Evansville scores 72.9 points per game and comes into the game as one of the strongest free throw shooting teams in the country. They rank 41st in free throws made and shoot 74.4% as a team from the line. They are also 25th in the country in defensive rebounding. There has been no consistency in wins and losses for Evansville or with points scored. There have been multiple games where they have allowed under 50 points and just as many games that they have allowed 90 or more. They will need to create an identity for themselves moving forward and it can start with this game.
Indiana State Hoping for Better Result
The Sycamores are coming off a loss in which they scored just 57 points. They were held to 28 in the first half and went into the locker room down nine. They did not have enough firepower to come back. As a team, they shot just 41.5% from the field. The Sycamores won the rebounding battle and hit seven three’s but they were buried by 22 turnovers. Tyreke Key was one of two players for Indiana State in double figures. He finished with 14 points which was a team high. Nine players made a field goal for he Sycamores but none were able to get it going enough to lead them back in this game. They will need to get it going offensively if they want to go on the road and pick up a win in Evansville.
A look at the numbers from 40 years ago #MarchWentMad as four Sycamores scored in double figures, #StateMade Larry Bird had a double-double and #StateMade Alex Gilbert almost did as well in an 83-64 win to push ISU to 12-0 on the year #MarchOn pic.twitter.com/pkNJECSPWa

As a team, Indiana State scores 70.1 points per game. They have one of the best three-point shooting percentages in the country at 39% but they do not attempt many. They are 352nd in the country in three’s attempted and have only made 87 on the year. The Sycamores rank 67th in two-point shots attempted. They like to play their games in the post and mid range. They have been able to get to the line in conference play so far ranking first in both shots made and attempted in conference games. The Sycamores have lose three of their last four games after starting 8-3. They will look to get back to their winning ways against Evansville.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Right now, Evansville is playing better basketball out of these two teams. They come in at 2-1 in conference play while the Sycamores have lost three of their last four. Indiana State got off to a hot start but has since come back down to Earth. They are a team that struggles on the road so Evansville should be able to move to 3-1 in conference play. The inconsistent play of Evansville is a concern but they have played better at home this season. Indiana state has had their issues recently and it will be hard to fix them when they are on the road.
Full-Game Total Pick
When MVC teams take the floor, unders have a high chance of hitting. With these two teams, it is up in the air. Combined, these teams have hit 13 unders on the season. It is hard to predict what kind of night they will have from the floor given their track record. Historically, these teams play low scoring games. In their last ten meetings, there has only been three instances where a team has scored 80 points and they have never done it in the same game. Defense will be the key to this one so envision a low scoring affair in Evansville.
