Kansas State Wildcats vs Iowa State Cyclones

Where: Hilton Coliseum, Ames Iowa

When: Saturday, January 12, 2019 12:00 noon Eastern

We have a tremendous Big-12 Conference matchup on Saturday afternoon for you when the Kansas State Wildcats travel to Ames, Iowa, for a contest with number twenty ranked Iowa State Cyclones. The Wildcats enter Saturday’s matchup with a 1-2 conference record and the Cyclones are 2-1 in the Big-12 so far this season.

Kansas State Wins After 21 Point Deficit

The Wildcats are off to a slow start to conference play, with losses to Texas at home and a road loss to Texas Tech. The Wildcats came back from a 21 point deficit Wednesday night to win their first Big-12 game, a 71-69 home victory over West Virginia. Senior guard Barry Brown Jr lit up the Mountaineers with 29 points and sophomore guard Mike McGuirl came off the bench to score 18 points including shooting 4-6 from long range to lead the Wildcats. Kansas State shot 47 percent from the field, 39 percent from long range and 63 percent from the free throw line on Wednesday night.

Senior forward Dean Wade has been ruled out for Saturday’s contest with Iowa State. Wade is the Wildcats second-leading scorer and top rebounder and his 29 minutes per game are hard to replace.

Kansas State scores an average of 65 points and allows an average of 59 points per game this season. The Wildcats are shooting 42 percent from the floor, 31 percent from the three-point line and just 62 percent from the charity stripe. Kansas State averages a total of 36 rebounds, 14 assists and 12 turnovers this season.

Cyclones Tough Road Loss to Baylor

Iowa State has found themselves the number twenty ranked team in NCAA D1 basketball. And not accidentally, either. The Cyclones are 12-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play this season and are coming off a 73-70 conference loss to Baylor this past Tuesday night. Senior guard Marial Shayok scored 19 points with four rebounds and three assists to lead a Cyclones team that shot 50 percent from the floor, 38 percent from long range and 87 percent from the charity stripe in their three point road loss to Baylor.

The Cyclones are reporting no significant injuries for Saturdays game with Kansas State.

Iowa State scores an average of 81 points and allows an average of 65 points per game. The Cyclones are shooting 48 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point land and 73 percent from the charity stripe. Iowa State averages a total of 36 rebounds, 17 assists and 11 turnovers per game this season.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

I’m expecting a  Cyclone victory on Saturday. Kansas State Is coming off a HUGE come from behind victory and I’m thinking this will be one of those classic letdown games whereas Iowa State would love to beat the bricks off Kansas State after their disappointing road loss this past week to Baylor. Wade being ruled out for Kansas State is the cherry on top of the sundae and I’ll be playing Iowa State to win on Saturday.

Prediction: Iowa State

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

Nothing about this game has been posted yet but I am going with the over in this contest. The total will probably be in the high 120’s to mid 130’s, and I have it at 142 points. Iowa State is a good shooting team and the Wildcats aren’t that bad either. The thing I like is both sides have a positive assist to turnover ratio and hopefully that continues on Saturday because I am playing the over in this game.

Prediction: Over
