Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Iowa Hawkeyes
NCAAB: Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:30 PM EST
Ohio State is the 16th ranked team in the nation, but they have lost their last two games. They lost to a ranked Michigan State team and then in their last game were shocked losing to Rutgers, who came into the game 0-3 in Big 10 play. While the Buckeyes are 12-3 they are only 2-2 in conference play. Ohio State had won five in a row before losing their last two games and in their last one they only scored 61 points. OSU is led by their defense, which ranks 29th in the nation in points allowed.
Iowa is hot winning seven of their last eight games including their last two. However, they are 2-3 in Big 10 play and need a win in this home game to get to .500 in conference play. The Hawkeyes can score ranking 34th in the nation in ppg, but they only rank 208th in points allowed. Their offense will be tested in this game by a solid OSU defense.
The home team is 4-1 ATS in the last five games between these teams.
Poor shooting in loss
In their last game, Ohio State was on the road and lost a stunner to Rutgers where they have issues shooting the pill. They did play pretty good defense holding Rutgers to a FG% of 41.5%, but they only shot 39.7% from the floor and it did not help that they had more turnovers and only had seven points from the free throw line. Kaleb Wesson lead the Buckeyes with 18 points on 6/14 shooting, Luther Muhammad has 13 points, and C.J. Jackson went for 10 points and no other OSU player had more than six points.
Wesson (17.1 ppg) and Jackson (13.1 ppg are the only two players for the Buckeyes that are averaging in double figures on the season and after totaling 42 points in two games Jackson has only scored 10 points in each of his last two games.
Solid D in the 2nd half leads to win
Iowa was on the road in their last game beating Northwestern 73-63 where they outscored the Wildcats by 10 points in the 2nd half holding them to 29 points.

While the Hawkeyes did not have the best shooting game with a FG% of 41.4% and they missed 13 of their 17 3-pointers they held Northwestern to 38.6% shooting and also had nine more points from the charity stripe. Joe Wieskamp led Iowa with 18 points Luke Garza came off the bench to go for 16 points, and Nicholas Baer was one point shy of a double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Cook leads four players for Iowa that are averaging over 11 ppg at 17.3 ppg, but he missed the last game is a question mark for this game with a knee injury. If he cannot go the Hawkeyes will need other players to step up in the scoring department. This season Iowa is 9-1 at home and Ohio State is 2-1 on the road.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Iowa is the hotter team and at home, but Ohio State is the pick in this Big 10 match up. They have a solid defense and they will likely be facing an Iowa team that will be without their leading scorer. The 16th ranked Buckeyes will not lose their 3rd in a row in this game, as on the road they will cover and get the W against Iowa sending them to 2-4 in Big 10 play.
Prediction: PICK: Ohio State
Full-Game Total Pick
While the total has gone Over in the last four games between these teams in Iowa the Under is the pick this time around. Ohio State will get back to their bread and butter, which is playing solid defense and they will keep the Hawkeyes from putting up many points. They will not light it up either and when you add those things up you get the Under in this Big 10 encounter.
Prediction: PICK: Under
