Texas A&M Aggies vs. Alabama Crimson Tide

NCAAB: Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 3:00 PM EST

Texas A&M has lost three in a row and they are the only team in the SEC that is without a conference win. They have been beaten by double digits in two of their last three games and their only win over a team from a major conference was against Oregon State. The main weakness of the Aggies on the season has been their defense, which only ranks 206th in the nation in points allowed.

Alabama had their five-game winning streak snapped in their last game and they sit at 1-1 in SEC play. They played solid defense in their win streak before giving up 88 points in losing their last game. The Crimson Tide have been decent on both sides of the floor and they suffered a letdown on D after their big win over a ranked Kentucky team in their previous game.

Alabama is 7-0 ATS in their last seven games facing Texas A&M.

Turnovers hurt

In their last game, Texas A&M was on the road and lost to a ranked Kentucky team 85-74 where they committed 19 turnovers. They shot a good FG% (48.2%) and shot a legit 3-pt FG% of 47.1%, but they were outscored by 12 points in the first half and they allowed the Wildcats to shoot 51.8% from the floor. Four of five starters for the Aggies went for double figures and Jay Jay Chandler and TJ Starks led the team with each going for 18 points. Only three bench players saw action and overall the bench only contributed nine points. Starks leads the Aggies averaging 14.5 ppg and he has totaled 41 points in his last two games.

Savion Flagg is the only other player averaging double digits at 12.7 ppg and he was one rebound shy of his 2nd straight double-double in the loss to Kentucky with 13 points and nine rebounds.

Not the best opening half

Alabama was on the road in their last game where they lost to LSU 88-79 where they were outscored by 15 points in the first half. They only shot 40.3% from the floor and 29.2% from 3-pt land while LSU shot 49.1% and was red-hot from deep hitting 10 of their 15 3-pointers. Kira Lewis Jr. led the Crimson Tide with 15 points on only 3/11 shooting, reserve Allen Reese had 12 points, and Herbert Jones had 10 points and five assists. Lewis Jr. leads three players for Bama that are averaging in double figures at 14.8 ppg and while his scoring has been decent as of late he is only a combined 11/37 in his last three games.

Donta Hall ranks 2nd on the team at 10.8 ppg and leads them in rebounding (8.1 rpg) and in the loss to LSU he only had seven points and six boards. On the season Alabama is 6-1 at home and Texas A&M has lost both of their road games.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

Bama suffered a letdown after beating Kentucky losing to LSU in their last game, but they are back at home and face a Texas A&M team that has lost three in a row and 0-2 on the road this season. The Tide will get back to playing solid defense and they will get it done in the scoring department as well. Alabama will win and cover sending the Aggies to their 4th straight loss.

Prediction: PICK: Alabama

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

In seven of the last eight games between these teams and the last four at Alabama the total has gone Under. Look for those trends to continue in this game. The Tide will play solid D, which they did not do in their last game. On the flip side Texas A&M will not have a bad game on defense, but will struggle to score. Take the Under in this SEC matchup.

Prediction: PICK: Under

I dig every sport and the NFL is my favorite. My team is the Redskins and my 2nd favorite is whoever is playing the Cowboys! I am a great handicapper and if you don’t believe me just ask. I don’t just write about betting on games I actually bet on them and I have done well, which is why it is a good idea to follow my picks.
