The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) is offering a fantastic matchup on Saturday afternoon when the #4 ranked Virginia Cavaliers travel to South Carolina and a meeting with the Clemson Tigers. The Cavaliers 2-0 to start ACC play while Clemson has found themselves in a 0-2 hole to start their ACC season.
Virginia is the Real Deal
Virginia travelled north to Boston and smoked Boston College, 83-56, for their second consecutive ACC victory and fourteenth overall without a loss. Sophomore guard De’Andre Hunter and junior forward Mamadi Diakite each scored 18 points for the Cavaliers. Virginia shot 60 percent from the floor, 42 percent from three-point land and 64 percent from the charity stripe in their blowout road victory over Boston College on Wednesday night.

The Cavaliers aren’t listing anyone on their injury report for Saturday’s contest with Clemson.
Virginia scores an average of 74 points and allows an average of 51 points per game this season. The Cavaliers are shooting 48 percent from the field, 39 percent from long range and 78 percent from the free throw line. Virginia averages a total of 35 rebounds, 15 assists and nine turnovers per game this season.
The Schedule Gods Don’t Favor Clemson
Clemson is off to an 0-2 start to ACC play, but look who they had to deal with? Duke and Syracuse on the road can’t be very much fun and a horrible way to begin conference play. Now they must play a Virginia team that many believe is the best team in college hoops. Senior guard Marcquise Reed led the Tigers with 16 points, six rebounds and three assists in Clemson’s 61-53 loss to Syracuse. The Tigers shot just 35 percent from the field, a chilly 25 percent from long range and 58 percent from the free throw line in the Tigers loss to Syracuse.

Clemson isn’t reporting any injuries for Saturday’s game with Virginia.
The Tigers are scoring an average of 73 points and allowing an average of 67 points per game. The Tigers are shooting 47 percent from the floor, 31 percent from the three-point arc and 72 percent from the charity stripe. Clemson is averaging 36 boards, 13 assists and 15 turnovers per game this season.
- Tigers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Tigers are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss.
- Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS win.
- Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The schedule gods must have it out for the Tigers, because Clemson is probably a very good basketball team that is about to be 0-3 in conference play. Virginia is the real deal on both ends of the floor and it’s going to be difficult for Clemson to stop them. They go inside, they go outside and wherever else they like to go. I will be playing Virginia in this contest.
Full-Game Total Pick
The Clemson crowd will be loud as all get out and that should fire Clemson up a bit, and encourage them when Virginia goes on one of their 10-12 point runs. And hopefully Clemson is able to respond with a few runs of their own. And I think that the Tigers can. And I see these two sides combining for at least 150 points on Saturday. So I’m playing the over on Saturday.
