Saturday afternoon college basketball action brings us to a Big East showdown between the Providence Friars and the Creighton Bluejays. This series has been split in the previous ten meetings, although Creighton took home a pair of wins last season. Providence knocked off Saint John's while the Blue Jays fell to Georgetown last time these teams took the court. Tip-off is set for approximately 4:30 PM ET from the CHI Health Center-Omaha for this contest.
Friars Back On TrackProvidence pulled a 63-58 win against Saint John's last time around to get back on the right path after a tough 70-58 loss to Butler in their previous contest. The win over the Red Storm was the team's fifth victory in their last six games as this team has some fight. The Friars have registered two quadrant-1 wins as well as three quadrant-2 wins so far this season. Three of their seven losses were quadrant-3 losses while another one was a quadrant-4 loss.

Alpha Diallo leads the Providence offence with 14.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per contest. David Duke averages 11.7 points and Nate Watson contributes 9.4 points an outing as well. The Friars grab 39.1 boards per game and they shoot 40.9% from the floor with 32.7% from deep. They commit 13.7 turnovers a night and knock down 66.4% of their free throw attempts as a squad. Kenpom ranks Providence 74th in the nation while their RPI ranking is 83rd and their NET ranking is 86th.
Blue Jays Come Up ShortCreighton couldn't quite pull off the upset over Georgetown last game, losing 83-80 this previous Wednesday. This gives them their third loss in their last four games as things have slid downhill fast for the team. The Bluejays have picked up three quadrant-1 wins this campaign as well as two quadrant-2 victories. None of their five losses so far have been registered as either quadrant-3 or quadrant-4 losses to date this campaign.
Marcus Zegarowski leads the Creighton attack with 17.2 points and 4.9 assists per game. Ty-Shon Alexander adds 15.9 points and Mitch Ballock scores 12.3 points a night as well. The Bluejays snag 35.9 rebounds per contest and they shoot 46.2% from the floor with 36.4% from three. They commit 10.9 turnovers an outing and convert on 72.1% of their free throw attempts as a team. Creighton's RPI ranking is 27th while their NET ranking is 30th and they are listed in 39th this season by Kenpom.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
My money is siding with the home favorite in this Big East battle Saturday afternoon. Creighton has come in just short in two of their last three games with a five point loss to Villanova before a three point loss to Georgetown. This is the perfect game for them to bounce back in a big way as Providence struggles against perimeter-oriented teams and I believe that they are a mismatch for the sharpshooting Bluejays. Creighton's offense outscores the Friars's by almost six points per game and their 46.2% shooting from the floor is 63rd in the NCAA while their 36.4% from deep is 56th in the nation. The Bluejays took home both of the meetings between these two in this series last season and I expect them to come out swinging in this one as they cover this spread on their way to a nice win.
Prediction: Creighton Bluejays -6.5
Full-Game Total Pick
I am playing the under in this afternoon contest. Both of these teams play at a fairly average pace as Creighton comes into this game ranked 135th in the NCAA with an average of 72.6 possessions per contest. Providence will virtually match the Bluejays's tempo as they come in ranked 116th in the country with an average of 72.9 possessions an outing themselves. Defense hasn't really been a huge issue for either of these two teams this season as they only allow a combined average of 134.8 points per game from their opponents. The Friars have played to the under in four of their last six outings and Creighton has played to the under in three of their last four as well. I expect defense to play a big part in this game as both of these teams look to take home a win in this battle.
Prediction: Under 141
