Georgia State Panthers vs. Troy Trojans
NCAAB: Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 3:00 PM EST
Georgia State has won three straight games where their offense has been solid. They are tied for first place in the Sun Belt conference with Georgia Southern and Arkansas Little Rock. The Panthers have had their issues on defense on the season, but they rank a legit 25th in the nation putting up an average of 80.2 ppg. This season Georgia State is 4-6 on the road.
Troy has lost two in a row and five of their last six games and have lost both of their last two games by double figures. They sit 3-5 in Sun Belt play and this is their first game of the season facing Georgia State. The Trojans have not been impressive on either side of the floor this season and while only 5-4 at home two of their three conference wins have been in their house. Last season these teams split the two games facing each other with each winning at home.
Offense Getting it DoneIn winning their last three games, Georgia State’s offense has been getting it done averaging 82 ppg. Their last game was the lowest-scoring one of their last three where they were on the road and beat South Alabama 72-63. In that game, they shot a lower FG% than the Jaguars (46% to 40.4%) but forced 20 turnovers and shot the 3-pointer better.
Justin Roberts (13.5 ppg) led the way in the win over South Alabama going for 20 points and this was after scoring 23 points in his previous game. Corey Allen is the leading scorer for the Panthers averaging 14.9 ppg and he only had 11 points on 33.3% shooting after totaling 42 points in his previous two games. The top five scorers for Georgia State are guards and G Damon Wilson leads the team in rebounding (4.5 rpg) and went for a double-double in the win over South Alabama with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Cold Deep Shooting Hurts TrojansIn their last game, Troy was on the road where they lost to Georgia Southern 82-66. They did not have a bad shooting game with an FG% of 46.6% but they only shot 25% from behind the 3-point arc (7/28) and they allowed the Eagles to shoot an FG% of 53.6%.

Darian Adams (13.3 ppg) is the leading scorer for the Trojans and after totaling 38 points in two games he only had five points on horrid 22.2% shooting in the loss to Georgia Southern. Second leading scorer and leading rebounder Zay Williams has missed the last few games and he is a question mark for this game. Ty Gordon is the third leading scorer averaging 11.2 ppg but has only scored six points in each of his last two games.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Georgia State is the much hotter team winning three in a row and they look for a W in this game to stay in first place in the Sun Belt Conference. They are led by their guards with their top five leading scorers all playing that position and if Williams misses another game for Troy it will be big since he is their leading rebounder. The Trojans struggled on the defensive side of the court in their last game and now face a big-time offense in the Panthers, who rank 25th in the nation in ppg. Their offense will play well in this game on the road and they will get the win and send Troy to their third straight loss.
Prediction: Georgia State
Full-Game Total Pick
I have to lean on the Over in this game simply because of the Georgia State offense. They are one of the higher scoring teams in the nation and while they “only” put up 72 points in their last game they are averaging over 82 ppg in their last three games. On top of their solid offense, they will be facing a Troy defense that gave up 82 points in their last game allowing their opponent to shoot over 53% from the floor. The Panthers will have a big scoring game and Troy will keep up in that department but will fall short taking a loss. This will be a higher scoring Sun Belt affair, so take the Over.
