NCAAB: Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 3:00 PM EST
UT Arlington has won two of their last three games and they put up 81 points in their last game. They are only 3-5 in Sun Belt play, but two of their three conference wins have come on the road. While five games under .500 on the season the Mavericks have won three of their last six games after losing five in a row.
UL Monroe has lost four in a row and they are tied with Louisiana in the basement of the Sun Belt Conference. Their last game was a close one while in the previous three games they lost by double figures. The tea Warhawks have not played bad defense on the season but are one of the lower scoring teams in the nation only putting up an average of 63.6 ppg.
This is the first game of the season between these conference rivals and last season UTA beat UL Monroe at home 91-86 in double overtime.
Solid All-Around GameIn their last game, UT Arlington was on the road and they beat Louisiana 81-65 in a good all-around game. They put up 50 points in the first half and for the game shot a solid 47% from the floor while holding the Rajin Cajuns to 35.6% shooting. This season the Mavericks are only 3-8 on the road.
David Azore (16.1 ppg) is one of only two players that is averaging double digits for UTA and after going off for 51 points in two games he only scored 12 points on 40% shooting in the win over Louisiana. Brian Warren (12.7 ppg) is the other player averaging in double figures and he only had two points in the win over Louisiana. In that game reserve TiAndre Jackson-Young (6.8 ppg) scored 18 points hitting four 3-pointers and he was held scoreless in the previous game and only had three points in the game before that.
Letting the Bobcats Back inUL Monroe was at home in their last game, losing to Texas State 64-63 after getting outscored by nine points in the second half. They shot a much better FG% (49% to 37.5%) but gave up 12 offensive rebounds and only had six and committed 13 turnovers while only forcing six. The Warhawks are 6-4 at home this season.
Like UTA the Warhawks only have two players averaging in double figures by Michael Ertel. He had 15 points in the loss to Texas State in his last game and in his last four games he has only averaged an FG% of 37.7%. JD Williams (14.8 ppg 5.5 rpg) is the leading rebounder for the team and while totaling 29 points in the last two games he only had seven boards. Containing these guys will be key for the Mavericks’ defense, as they are the only players for ULM that are averaging over eight ppg.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
UT Arlington is coming off a win where they scored 81 points and they have won two of their last three games. They have been solid on the road I Sun Belt play winning two of three games and face a UL Monroe team that has dropped four straight games and is the bottom of the Sun Belt standings. Their last game close but they were beaten badly in their previous three games. The Mavericks have more balanced and are in better form as of late and they will play well on both sides of the court in this game getting the win, covering the spread, and handing the Warhawks their fifth loss in a row.
Prediction: UT Arlington
Full-Game Total Pick
So, UL Monroe last their last game where they only allowed 64 points while UTA had a solid offensive performance in their last game. I have to lean towards the Under in this Sun Belt contest, as the Warhawks could really use a win and at home they will look to slow the pace of the game. The Mavericks will get the W in this one but they will not light up the scoreboard doing it and I see UL Monroe losing in this one like they did their last one. This game will be relatively close but a low scoring affair, which means the Under is the way to go.
