Utah State beats back Wolf PackThe Utah State Aggies scored a solid Mountain West Conference win last Saturday, beating the Nevada Wolf Pack 80-70 victory. The win improved Utah State to 9-9 overall and 3-3 in the conference. It was a great win as Nevada is a tough team that only had lost once in the conference. The win snapped the Aggies' three-game losing streak. They are now tied for 4th in the conference with Boise State.
Neemias Queta led the Aggies with 19 points in the win on 8-of-12 shooting. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Full-Game Side Bet
Take Utah State here to cover. This is a great game between two pretty evenly matched teams. Both teams are 3-3 in the conference. Utah State is ranked No. 69 in the Kenpom power rankings while Boise State is No. 112. When you look at common opponents, Utah State only lost by 9 to No. 7 ranked San Diego State while Boise State lost by 18. But Boise State beat UNLV while Utah State lost to them. But the Aggies beat Nevada while Boise State lost to Nevada. Here's why Utah State will cover on the road -- defense. Utah State is a much better defensive team and they are one of the best rebounding teams in the country. The Aggies will keep it close with their physical play and cover.
Prediction: Utah State
Full-Game Total Pick
Take the under in this one. Both of these teams have very good offenses, averaging in the mid 70s in points per game. But Utah State is a much better defensive team, ranking No. 91 in defensive efficiency. Also, they are the 14th best rebounding team in the nation, led by Justin Bean who ranks 21st in the nation with 10.3 total rebounds per game. Playing on the road, they will look to slow it down, control the paint, and play their gritty defense. They rank No. 212 in pace of play and that's how they like it. Keeping it low-scoring gives them their best chance to win, so I expect this to be a grind -- played well below their respective season scoring averages.
