The South Dakota State Jackrabbits head a couple hours south on I-29 to face their in-state rivals, the South Dakota Coyotes, in Vermillion, South Dakota. The Jackrabbits, who hold first place in the Summit League, have won five straight games after defeating the North Dakota Fighting Hawks by a score of 87-66 on Wednesday. The Coyotes, who are in sixth place in the conference, lost to the North Dakota State Bison on Wednesday, 72-70.
Jackrabbits race past HawksThe South Dakota State Jackrabbits raced out to a 16-point halftime lead, as they cruised past the North Dakota Fighting Hawks by 21 points. Douglas Wilson scored 22 points to lead the Jackrabbits to victory, and Noah Freidel added 16 points. Matthew Mims, who came into the game with just nine points on the season, came off the bench to score 14 points, and Alou Dillon also came off the bench to add 12 points in the win. South Dakota State made 50% of their field goal attempts, and 33.3% of their three-pointers. They were also 21-26 from the foul line.
"I'm really proud of those two guys, Matt Mims and Alou Dillon, because of how those two young men stepped up in the second half," head coach Eric Henderson said on gojacks.com. "As far as our team, we got off to a little bit of a slow start but we were able to bounce back and hang in there before a nice little run helped separate us in the first half. I didn't love our efforts on the boards in the first half, but again we hung in there. I'm certainly proud of our bench tonight and it was a great team win for the Jackrabbits."
