We have the Barclays Center Classic and this one could be interesting when the Illinois-Chicago Flames take on the #14 ranked Memphis Tigers. The Flames snuck past Olivet Nazarene by a score of 75-72 and the Tigers opened its season with a blowout win over South Carolina State.
UIC Starts Season with VictorySenior guard Godwin Boahen dropped 21 points and led the Flames past a determined Olivet Nazarene by a score of 75-72. Junior forward Michael Diggins chipped in with 11 points with five assists and junior forward Jacob Wiley added 11 points with seven rebounds to lead Illinois-Chicago to its first victory of the season.
UIC shot 22 of 61 from the field for 42.6 percent to go along with 31.6 percent from downtown and a sizzling 89.5 percent from the charity stripe. UIC outrebounded the Flames 38-35 and committed eight turnovers in its three-point win over Olivet Nazarene.
Wiseman Lives up to the HypeMemphis opened its season in a big way with a 97-64 thrashing over South Carolina State. Freshman center James Wiseman lived up to the preseason hype by delivering a 28 point, 11 rebound performance. Freshman forward Precious Achiuwa finished with 14 points with eight rebounds and freshman guard Jayden Hardaway came off the bench to score nine points with three boards in the rout over Bulldogs.
The Tigers shot 54.5 percent from the floor with just 30 percent from downtown and 90.5 percent from the free-throw line against South Carolina State. The Tigers won the battle of the boards, 42-25 and Memphis will likely win most of the rebounds with young bangers like Wiseman and Achiuwa on the frontline this season.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Vegas hasn't posted anything yet but I suspect we're going to see a spread of around 25 points or more. Without knowing that, it's hard to tell you who to pick here. The Tigers frontcourt is amazing and those two kids are going to be a load to handle. Memphis didn't shoot it well from downtown and if the bigs get into foul trouble, this game could stay close. I would go with Memphis at 28 points or under.
I like Memphis to win this game.
Full-Game Total Pick
I think Memphis might be a good defensive team. They are awfully fast and the Memphis coaching staff knows how to coach these kids and I don't see UIC doing a whole lot on the offensive end of the court. If the Flames can contain the frosh bigs, Memphis could have a hard time scoring. I have this set at 155-160 points and I would play UNDER that.
I will play the UNDER in this contest.
