Convocation Center, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, is the setting for a 11:00 am NCAA College Basketball game between the visiting Drexel Dragons and the Eastern Michigan Eagles. This will be the first game Drexel plays this season while the Eagles are coming off a 77-66 victory over Rochester College.
Drexel in Rebuild Mode
Drexel finished their 2018 season with a disappointing 13-20 overall record and an equally disappointing Colonial Athletic Association record of six wins and twelve losses. Drexel has two returning starters and not a single returning player other than returning starters, other than Alihan Demir and Kurk Lee, averaged more than five points per game last season. So Drexel has plenty of new faces and a similar challenge is in store for Head Coach Zach Spiker.

Last season Drexel averaged 74.4 points per game and allowed 78.5 points per game. They shot 44 percent from the floor, 32 percent from long range and 72 percent from the line. The Dragons committed 12 turnovers per game and teams shot 52 percent from the floor and 36 percent from long range.
Eastern Has Eyes on a MAC Title
The Eagles started their season with a 77-67 victory over Rochester. Senior guard Paul Jackson led the Eagles with 27 points, followed by junior guard Damari Paris and junior center Boubacar Toure each had 15 points and senior center James Thompson IV added 12 points. Eastern shot 53 percent from the floor, 28 percent from beyond the arc and 64 percent from the charity stripe. The Eagles allowed Rochester to shoot 38 percent from the floor and 33 percent from long distance.
In an exhibition game against Eastern Michigan Univ. the Warriors were up 6 with 8 minutes but fell short, losing 67-77. Senior forward, Kash Blackwell scored 21 points, and grabbed 9 rebounds.

Eastern is coming off a 22-13 season and finished the Mid-American Conference with an 11-6 record. Eastern has four returning starters and ten letter winners from a 2017-2018 team that shot 46 percent from the floor, 33 percent from behind the three point line and 68 percent from the free throw line. That Eagles team committed 13 turnovers per game and allowed teams to shoot 44 percent from the floor and 34 percent from three.
- Eagles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games.
- Eagles are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall.
- Dragons are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Mid-American.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
This is an 11 am eastern time tip-off so be sure to get to the counter early on Friday.
Eastern has three major things in their favor on Friday morning;
- They are playing at home where they are 1-0 and 14-3 last season.
- They have four starters returning from an above .500 club
- They have a game under their belts
I don’t see a way in the world Eastern loses this game. They should be favored by probably 10-15 points and I believe they can cover that. Any more than 15 points and we have to start looking at Drexel on Friday morning.
Prediction: Eastern Michigan
Full-Game Total Pick
We don’t have a total yet so we have to try and figure out what is worth our time and what isn’t. I would think the total will be somewhere between 142-150 points. I would certainly consider playing the over if the total is in that range. If the total for some reason is higher than 150 points, then I would strongly consider playing the under as I don’t think either team has an 80 point performance in them.
