Southern Illinois Salukis vs Kentucky Wildcats
NCAAB Basketball: Friday, November 9th 2018 7:00 PM EST TIME
This will be the first game for the Southern Illinois Salukis as they hit the road to take on the Kentucky Wildcats. The Salukis might have the best odds to take down the Wildcats as Kentucky is coming off an historic loss to the Duke Blue Devils.
The Southern Illinois Salukis are looking for the upset win as they head on down to Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky to play the Kentucky Wildcats in their opening game of the college basketball regular season. If you are new to hearing about this team, let me fill you in on some important facts. They currently play in the Missouri Valley Conference and have had great seasons for the past couple of years. They enter this game with returning all of their five starters in which Southern Illinois finished 20-13 overall.

If the Salukis want to get the upset win, they need to get an excellent shooting performance from their leader. That leader being Armon Fletcher who led Southern Illinois last season in scoring with an average of 14.1 points per game. Playing alongside him will be Kavion Pippen and Sean Lloyd who both averaged more than 12 points per game last season.
The Kentucky Wildcats once again had the spotlights on them in their opening game against the Duke Blue Devils as they were easily the home favorites and most importantly one of the favorites to really take home the crown. However, all of that came to a quick stop as bettors found a new team to watch this season. The Wildcats opened up the season with a historic loss against the Duke Blue Devils in a 118-94 loss that saw everything go wrong for them.

In the historic loss, it was Keldon Johnson who led the Wildcats with 23 points. Another star on this team who will be making his presence more known is Reid Travis a graduate transfer who dropped 22 points. The biggest problem for the Wildcats was the defense as they could not keep up with Duke’s talented freshmen who took the game over. Also another category the Wildcats must improve on is the deep shot as they are shooting 23.5% from 3-point territory.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Call me crazy, but I’m going with the Southern Illinois to cover the spread on Friday night. Kentucky looked out of sync against Duke in its opening game loss, and giving up so many free points is a win in my book. The Salukis have a team that is depth with great players as they will keep it closer than some people think.
Prediction: SALUKIS +17.0
Full-Game Total Pick
Kentucky is known for the three point play as that was silenced in their opening game. However coming back to home, expect some of that flare to come up once again. The Over is 11-1 in Wildcats last 12 non-conference games as well as 10-2 in Wildcats last 12 overall.
