Tuesday's game marks the fifth time out of seven contests Arizona State has played on the road. And the competition won't be easy.
They travel to San Francisco to face a red-hot Dons squad. San Francisco has won seven of their first eight games.
Tuesday's contest takes place at the War Memorial Gym with tip-off scheduled for 10 p.m. EST. The game airs on the CBS Sports Network.
The Sun Devils hoping to close out strong on the roadTuesday's game marks the last of a tough stretch of road games for Arizona State. To win this one, they must rely on the steady play of Remy Martin. Martin leads the Pac-12 in scoring by averaging 21.7 points per game.
They'll need these points too, as they face one of the most potent offenses in the country. San Francisco averages 87.1 points per game, placing them third nationally in points scored per game.
While Arizona State has relied more on their defense to win games, this contest might flip this tendency. The reason for this is the Dons have a roster loaded with playmakers. To this point, five players average over 10 points per game.
This means the Sun Devils' defense must contend with a variety of playmakers which will test their defense inside and out.
The Dons are on a scoring frenzySan Francisco's success has been in running teams out of the building. Their roster is talented and deep. It also features precision shooting, as the Dons are 60th nationally in field goal percentage making 47.2% of their shots.

On Tuesday, I don't expect them to deviate from their point of attack, though they'll face one of their toughest tests of the season.
Arizona State's defense is one of the best defenses nationally. They're holding opponents to 60.8 points per game, which is 42nd nationally. Therefore, the emphasis is on the Dons to knock down shots early to force the tempo of the game. If they get into a grind it out half court battle, it plays favorably to Arizona State's advantage.
Trends found on Covers.com San Francisco is:

Arizona State is:
- 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Arizona State wins this game for several reasons. One, they've been more battle-tested to this point. They've played on the road and almost beat a very talented Virginia squad. Furthermore, the Sun Devils' defense will be by far the most talented San Francisco has faced this season. Look for these two factors to give the edge to Arizona State, as they impose their will to win a close game on the road.
Prediction: Arizona State
Full-Game Total Pick
Arizona State is 5-0 in the Under in their last five games. I anticipate this trend continues. They'll slow the pace of the game due to their strong defensive effort. That'll keep the Dons' high-octane offense in check. The Sun Devils use their size and athleticism to win a lower-scoring game.
