The 7-1 Florida State Seminoles will go on the road to face off with the 7-0 Indiana Hoosiers in Assembly Hall on Tuesday night. It’s a battle between two teams that have started the season on fire and have performed above expectations. It’ll be interesting to see if the Florida State Seminoles can stay hot against a tough Indiana team. This game will be on ESPN2 at 9:00 PM EST.
Best team in FL?The Seminoles didn’t come into the year with very high expectations, but they’ve taken down the in-State rival Gators and are now 7-1 and ranked 17th in the country. They’re coming off of an overtime 63-60 win against Purdue in which Trent Forrest led the way with 17 points. They beat Tennessee a game prior and now move on to undefeated Indiana.
Trent Forrest is the leader of this Seminoles team and he averages 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists in 31 minutes. Devin Vassell is a pure scorer and he averages 13 points a game and four boards in just 26 minutes. Malik Osborne leads the team in rebounds averages six a night. This Seminoles team plays at an average pace relies on their defense to make stops when it matters. So far, they’ve been dominant.
The Indiana Hoosiers are 7-0, but they’re unranked and haven’t faced anyone good. They have the chance to prove to the country they are legit and deserve to be ranked. They’re coming off a 64-50 win over South Dakota State in a game that was dominated down low. Forwards Justin Smith and Trayce Jackson-Davis combined for 37 points and 22 rebounds with four blocks. Devonte Green complimented them off the bench as the only other player in double-figures with 11.
This team is led by freshman phenom Trayce-Jackson Davis. The six-foot-nine big man has an image ability to score the ball and be in the right place at the right time for rebounds. He’s averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds and the offense runs through him on most possessions. Justin Smith is the second leading scorer as the forward opposite Jackson-David and he sees a lot of open looks under the basket as a result. This team has a lot to prove against a tough Seminoles team.
- Seminoles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.
- Seminoles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
- Hoosiers are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Hoosiers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 vs. Atlantic Coast.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I like the Seminoles to continue rolling here and beat the Hoosiers on the road in Indiana. They’ve won seven games in a row and face off with an Indiana team that hasn’t faced a team nearly as strong as the Seminoles. Trent Forrest is going to be too much for these Indiana guards and I expect Malik Osborne to at least neutralize Jackson-Davis in the paint.
Prediction: Seminoles +2.5
Full-Game Total Pick
This total is too low for these two offenses. Neither play at an incredibly fast pace, but they also don’t play strong defense and neither offense turns the ball over. I expect a clean game in the 70's and for this total to go over with ease.
Prediction: Over 140
