The Rutgers Scarlet Knights head to Michigan to face the No. 11 Michigan State Spartans in a Big Ten game on Sunday night. Both seasons begin conference play on the back of a defeat in their previous game. Who will start with a win?
Rutgets go down to Pittsburgh, but start season wellForm
The Scarlet Knights had started the season in sprightly fashion, with a 6-1 record. However, they were quite easily beaten by Pittsburgh in their previous game 71-60. Yet, they have enjoyed a solid start and things are looking bright.
Myles Johnson and Ron Harper each put up double-doubles: 14 points, 14 rebounds and 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Rutgers' leading scorer Baker had nine points but also had five turnovers.
What was said?
“Everyone tries to make it hard on him,” Rutgers coach Steve Pikiell said of Baker's single-digit scoring game. “We just turned it over way too much. That’s not characteristic of us.”

Michigan State routed in sub-par performanceForm
The No. 11 Spartans have been decent, but unremarkable season to date. They have been beaten by No. 2 Kentucky and in their last game by No. 10 Duke 87-75. So far, the Spartans are 5-3 for the season.
Xavier Tillman scored 20 points, Marcus Bingham added 13 and Cassius Winston chipped in with 12 points. Draymond Green's jersey was retired.
Rocket Watts is likely to miss this game with an injury.
What was said?
“We got it taken to us early and we didn’t respond,” coach Tom Izzo said. “It’s my job to get them ready and I’m going to do a better job of getting them ready. I won’t panic like most fans because I’ve been here before.”

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
While Rutgers have been solid defensively this season, allowing opponents to score under 40% from the field, this may not be that kind of opponent. MSU's ego will be hurt after what coach Izzo called an embarrassing performance against Duke. This may be a game where the Spartans come out ready from the outset and put away Rutgers as early as halftime.
Prediction: MSU -14.5
Full-Game Total Pick
Pace of play is an important intangible metric to measure this market. Rutgers prefer playing slow, controlled basketball. They concede over 60 points per game on average, and keep opponents to a little over 30% from the field from three-point range. Michigan State tend to prefer the same style of basketball in big games. As a result, the total should stay under.
Prediction: Under 141.5
