Texas A&M Aggies vs. Missouri Tigers

NCAAB: Tuesday, February 13th 2018 7:00 PM EST TIME

Missouri hopes to extend its longest winning streak during conference play since joining the SEC when it hosts equally hot Texas A&M on Tuesday. Both teams have posted four consecutive wins to bolster their NCAA Tournament hopes

Aggies Ready For Another Ranked Victory

Texas A&M posted two triumphs over ranked opponents last week, winning at No. 11 Auburn (81-80) and beating then-No. 24 Kentucky (85-74). Missouri survived a wild one against visiting Mississippi State on Saturday, registering an 89-85 overtime win after letting a double-digit lead slip away in the final two minutes of regulation.

The Aggies possess one of the SEC’s top frontcourts with Tyler Davis (14.3 points, 8.8 rebounds) and Robert Williams (10.8, 9.6) dominating inside and swingman D.J. Hogg (11.7, 5.5) creating matchup problems on the wing. Admon Gilder (11.8 points) is a solid scorer and an excellent defender. The Aggies will be without Duane Wilson (nine points, four assists) for the remainder of the season after he aggravated a nagging knee injury in the win over Kentucky, but reigning SEC Freshman of the Week T.J. Starks has averaged 15.2 points in five games since assuming Wilson’s starting role.

Tigers Ready To Make History

The Tigers’ four-game streak is their longest in conference play since reeling off seven straight Big 12 wins during the 2011-12 season. The run has Missouri tied for fourth in the SEC standings – one game ahead of the Aggies, who have won six of their last seven conference games after recording a 60-49 home victory over the Tigers on Jan. 20.

Kassius Robertson (16.6 points) has emerged as the Tigers’ clear leader, and the graduate transfer from Canisius has earned SEC Player of the Week honors in consecutive weeks. Robertson poured in a season-high 27 points at Ole Miss on Tuesday and followed up with 22 against Mississippi State, hitting five 3-pointers in each game. Jordan Barnett (13.6 points, six rebounds) is the team’s only other double-digit scorer, but Kevin Puryear (9.2 points) and freshmen Jeremiah Tilmon (8.1) and Jontay Porter (8.8, 6.5 rebounds) give the Tigers a deep and talented frontcourt.

TRENDS

  • Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
  • Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall.
  • Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 vs. Southeastern.
  • Aggies are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Missouri.
  • Aggies are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings.

Texas A&M has recorded nine more victories than it had all last season, the third-largest improvement in the nation behind North Carolina A&T (12) and UC Santa Barbara (13).

PICK: Texas A&M Aggies
