Western Michigan Broncos at Bowling Green Falcons
When and Where: Tuesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. ET at Stroh Center in Bowling Green, OH
The Broncos have won four of their last five games. Western Michigan is three games back of the first place Toledo Rockets. Bowling Green, on the other hand, has won three of its last four games. The Falcons are 6-6, sitting four games back of the first place Buffalo Bulls.
Continuing to Play Well
It’s been a great stretch for the Broncos who won 69-60 over Ohio last weekend to continue their winning ways. A road game at Bowling Green will be a difficult test as Western Michigan looks to gain ground on Toledo. The Rockets already beat the Broncos earlier this season, so Western Michigan needs to win games like Tuesday nights in order to have a chance to win the MAC West. Western Michigan’s averaging 75 points per game while shooting nearly 44 percent from the field.
Offensively, the Broncos are led by Thomas Wilder. Wilder scored his average of 19 points in the nine-point win over Ohio. He’s been sensational at times, most notably scoring 34 points in a tough loss to Buffalo recently. Wilder’s shooting only 35 percent from three. He’s been inconsistent at times, but he’s constantly facing the defense’s most intense attention. Outside of Wilder, the Broncos lean on Josh Davis, who has been consistent from three, connecting on over 40 percent of his attempts.
Protecting Home Court
Bowling Green has been average in conference record, as evident by its 6-6 record. The Falcons won against Eastern Michigan in their last game. Bowling Green’s averaging 76 points per game, which is slightly better than Western Michigan. The Falcons are shooting 42 percent from the field, and their defense has struggled a bit at times this season. Bowling Green recently lost to Ball State whom Western Michigan defeated earlier in conference play.
The Falcons are led by Justin Turner and his 14 points per game. Turner is one of four Falcons’ averaging double-figures this year. Bowling Green has received nice contributions from Demajeo Wiggins, who is grabbing over nine rebounds per game to go along with his 13 points per game. Wiggins had 17 points and 15 rebounds in the overtime win over Eastern Michigan.
- Broncos are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games.
- Broncos are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
- Broncos are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win.
No negative trends for Bowling Green.
It’s hard to win on the road. Bowling Green has been solid lately, but so has Western Michigan. The Broncos have the best player on the court in Wilder. The Falcons do have a well-balanced offensive attack. This game should go down to the wire.
