The Saint Louis Billikens will be looking for their 16th win of the season when the team travels to the Charles E. Smith Center to take on the George Washington Colonials. Saint Louis enters this game with a 15-9 record after losing to St. Joseph’s in its last game. Meanwhile, George Washington is 7-16 this season as it lost to Richmond in its last game. Now, both teams will be looking a win this Wednesday.
Saint Louis Looks To Forget About Its Last Game
Last season, the Saint Louis Billikens went 17-16 and lost in the second round of the conference tournament to Davidson. This season, Saint Louis has taken a step forward as the team is currently 15-9. However, the team is entering this contest off of a blowout loss to St. Joseph’s on the road this past weekend. In that game, Saint Louis’ defense was awful as allowed 91 points on over 55% shooting from the floor. However, with an inferior opponent up next, look for Saint Louis to put its last performance behind it.
The Saint Louis Billikens are led by senior guard Javon Bess who has been a key contributor for the program during his college career. Last season, Bess was extremely solid as he averaged the most points on the team with 13.3 points per game along with 7.4 rebounds. However, Bess has been even better this season as he is currently tied for the team-lead in scoring with 15.6 points per game along with 6.6 rebounds. Bess is a solid player and he is also the heart and soul of this year’s team. If the Billikens are going to cover this spread, he will have to at his best.
George Washington Continues To Struggle
Last season, the George Washington Colonials went 15-18 and lost in the second round of its conference tournament to Saint Louis. This season, George Washington has looked even worse as the team is currently 7-16. George Washington has particularly struggled on the offensive end as the team is scoring less than 65 points per game. In the team’s last game, its offense was awful once again as the team only scored 63 points as the team has now lost five of its last six games. If George Washington plans on turning around its season, the team’s offense will need to play a lot better
The George Washington Colonials are led by junior guard DJ Williams who has been amazing this season. This season, he has been one of the only bright spots on the entire team as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 14.2 points per game along with 4.7 rebounds. George Washington is an awful team but has been okay at home. If DJ Williams plays well in this one, George Washington might be able to cover this spread.
Notable Trends
- Colonials are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Wednesday games.
- Colonials are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.
- Billikens are 0-8 ATS in their last 8 Wednesday games.
- Billikens are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Overall, I think that Saint Louis is the better team but I do not trust this team laying this many points. Saint Louis is only 3-5 on the road this season and is coming off of a 30 point loss. I think that Saint Louis will win the game but giving a home team this many points in a conference games seems like too much value. Give me the home underdog plus the points.
Prediction: George Washington
Full-Game Total Pick
Both of these teams have below average offenses and like to play at slower paces which is a solid recipe for an under. Both of these teams are also shooting less than 42% from the floor this season so I can see a lot of missed shots and sloppy offensive sets in this one. Therefore, I think this total is a bit too high so I recommend the under in this matchup.
Prediction: Under
