For our Top Plays of the Day, check out today’s Deep-3:
The Auburn Tigers will be looking for their 17th win of the season when they travel to Memorial Gymnasium to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores. Auburn enters this game with a 16-8 record after beating Ole Miss in its last game. Meanwhile, Vanderbilt is 9-15 this season as it lost to Florida in its last game. Now, both teams will be looking to improve on their respective records this Saturday.
Auburn Loses At Home To Ole Miss
Last season, the Auburn Tigers went 26-8 and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament before losing to Clemson. This season, the team looks to make it even further in the tournament this season behind some veteran leadership. So far this season, the team has been a bit worse but still solid overall as it possesses a 16-8 record. While Auburn has been known for its offensive prowess this season, its offense was the main reason why the Tigers lost their last game against Ole Miss. In that game, Auburn’s offense was awful as it only allowed scored 55 points on 32.7% shooting from the floor. With another road game up next, Auburn’s offense will need to play a lot better.
The Auburn Tigers are led by senior guard Bryce Brown who has been great this season. Last season, Brown averaged 15.9 points per game and 1.7 assists per game. However, he only shot 40.1% from the floor and looked to become more efficient this upcoming season. So far this season, he has been great as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 16.3 points per game and 2.1 rebounds. However, he is only shooting 43.4% from the floor as inefficiency has plagued him once again this season. If Auburn plans on covering this spread, he will have to be more efficient.
Vanderbilt Still Looking For First Conference Win
Last season, the Vanderbilt Commodores went 12-20 and lost in the first round of its conference tournament to Georgia. This season, Vanderbilt has looked extremely similar as it is currently 9-15. To make matters worse, the team is currently winless in its 11 conference games this season and will be desperate to get a conference victory in this one. This team actually started the season 4-0 but the team’s success quickly faded once start guard Darius Garland suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Since then, the team has looked lost on both sides of the ball as the team has lost 15 of its last 20 games. However, with a home game up next, maybe Vanderbilt will be able to do enough to cover this spread.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are led by sophomore guard Saben Lee who averaged 10.6 points per game last season. This season, he has managed to improve as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game along with 3.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game. As the best active player on this year’s team, Lee better be at his best if Vanderbilt plans on potentially winning its first conference game of the season.
- Commodores are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 Saturday games.
- Commodores are 1-11 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS win.
- Favorite is 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
- Tigers are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Vanderbilt came into this season with a lot of hype but it quickly died due to Garland’s injury. Vanderbilt has looked like the worst team in the SEC ever since and is in the middle of a terrible slump. Although Auburn has lost each of its last two games, its defense was actually fantastic in its last game which might be a good sign of things to come. Auburn should play a lot better offensively in this one as the team looks to avoid a three-game losing streak. Give me the road favorite in this one.
Full-Game Total Pick
Auburn likes to run uptempo and Vanderbilt does not have an issue with that. Auburn’s best two players love to shoot quick jumpshots and to run the break in order to get some transition points. I expect Auburn to have no issues scoring on this Vanderbilt defense as both teams should be able to score enough points due to tempo alone to generate a lot of total points. Give me the over as a result.
