We have a Conference USA (C-USA) to consider when the Charlotte 49ers travel to Norfolk, Virginia and a matchup with the Old Dominion Monarchs. The 49ers are currently in last place in the conference and the Monarchs hold a slim, half-game lead over second place UTSA. There is much to play for in this C-USA matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Jon Davis Having a Fantastic Season
With just four returning upperclassmen on their roster, Charlotte knew it would be a difficult season. With a record of six wins and 18 losses, the season probably can’t end soon enough for the 49ers. KenPom ranks Charlotte as one of the worst teams in college basketball, and their record makes it difficult to argue against that. They do have the opportunity to finish their last regular season game on Saturday by playing the spoiler, and as UAB found out in their last game, Charlotte is still competing to the very end.

The 49ers aren’t listing any injuries for their Saturday contest with Old Dominion.
Senior guard Jon Davis leads the 49ers in scoring, averaging 21.5 points per game, 4.5 rebounds and 3.6 assists. Davis is drilling 2.4 triples and has exceeded his scoring average in four of his last five games.
Old Dominion 12-1 at Home This Season
If the regular season were to end today, Old Dominion would likely have earned a fourteen seed into the NCAA Tournament. And why wouldn’t they? The Monarchs have a solid 20-win, six loss record and KenPom ranks them as the 104 team in the country, they still get in by winning C-USA. And all Old Dominion must do to make sure they are still in the hunt is to defeat one of the worst teams in college basketball, and they get to do so in front of their home crowd.

Old Dominion isn’t reporting any injuries for their Saturday contest with Charlotte.
The Monarchs snuck past Charlotte in their last meeting. Old Dominion has a home record this season of 12 wins and one loss and is riding a four-game winning streak.
Senior guard B.J. Stith leads Old Dominion in scoring, averaging 18.2 points, a team-leading 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.3 triples per game this season. Stith has outscored his average in four of the past five games.
- Home team is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings.
- Over is 6-1 in the last 7 meetings.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Old Dominion is solid as a rock at home and Charlotte is horrible on the road this season. Stith has been red hot over the past five games and Old Dominion needs this win to stay in the hunt for a automatic bid into the NCAA tourney. I’m rolling with the Monarchs in this game on Saturday.
Prediction: Old Dominion
Full-Game Total Pick
I would expect Old Dominion will want to hammer the 49ers at home and do it early enough so the fan favorites sitting at the end of the bench can watch their heroes play. And their heroes will want to score buckets. I also expect Davis and Stith to put on a show against each other.
When I did the math and added everything together, I came up with a score of 128 points. That seemed a bit low. I will play the over at 128 or lower on Saturday.
