The Oklahoma Sooners will be looking for their 16th win of the season when the team travels to the Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena to take on the TCU Horned Frogs. Oklahoma is 15-10 this season as it lost to Baylor in its last game. Meanwhile, TCU enters this game with a 17-7 record after losing to Kansas in its last game. Now, both teams will be looking another win this Saturday.
Oklahoma Cannot End Losing Streak
Oklahoma entered this season with hopes to not only return to the big dance, but to potentially make some notice within it. At the start of the season, the team looked like a lock to make it there as the team won 11 of its first 12 games. However, the team then proceeded to lose nine of its next 13 games including a current six-game losing streak. Oklahoma lost its last game to Baylor on the road as the team’s offense struggled once again. The Sooners were held to just 38.9% from the field and hit just three three-pointers. Brady Manek finished with 11 points and five rebounds to while Christian James had 11 points of his own. Oklahoma’s season has quickly imploded with no end in sight. If the team plans on making the NCAA tournament, it will have to return to its winning ways quickly.
James is the senior leader on this team and is averaging 15.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. However, the Sooners are scoring just 71.2 points per game on the season. A large reason for the team’s offensive struggles is the team’s three-point shooting as Oklahoma is shooting just 33.1% from the three-point line. With a five-game losing streak looming over the team’s head, Oklahoma will look to snap it with this road upset.
TCU Looks For Another Home Win
Last season, the TCU Horned Frogs went 21-12 and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament to Syracuse. This season, TCU has been even better as the team has won 17 of its first 24 games. The team has been extremely solid at home this season as the team has won 11 of its 13 home games this season. However, the team is entering this game off of a home loss to Kansas in overtime. In that game, TCU’s offense struggled as the team scored 77 points while shooting 38% from the floor. However, with another home game up next, expect TCU’s offense to play better.
The TCU Horned Frogs are led by sophomore forward Kouat Noi who has been unbelievable this season with the program. Last season, Noi was solid as he averaged 10.2 points per game along with 3.9 rebounds. However, he has played even better this season as he is currently second on the team in scoring with 14.8 points per game along with 4.6 rebounds. In this conference game at home, expect him to be a huge factor if TCU ends up covering this spread.
- Horned Frogs are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
- Horned Frogs are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games.
- Sooners are 1-4-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
- Sooners are 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Big 12.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Overall, TCU is the better team and I think that this spread is too low. TCU is an elite team at home and will be extra motivated after losing to a ranked team in overtime in its last game. Meanwhile, Oklahoma does not score too many points so one has to be a bit skeptical about this team’s ability to keep this game close throughout. It is also a conference rivalry game so I think that home court advantage is even more important as TCU will be looking to wrap up an NCAA tournament bid with a strong end to the season. Give me the home favorite in this one.
Full-Game Total Pick
While TCU has a solid offense, Oklahoma’s offense has struggled this entire season. I expect this conference game to be very physical throughout as Oklahoma will look to slow the game down into a halfcourt battle. TCU should have no issues stopping Oklahoma’s below average offense in this one while Oklahoma’s defense is still underrated. I can see this game getting landing in the 130s so this total is a bit too high. As a result, I recommend the under in this one.
