Baylor Bears vs TCU Horned Frogs

Where: Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena

When: Saturday, February 29, 2020, 2:00 pm ET

We have an Big-12 match up to consider for Saturday afternoon when the second-ranked Baylor Bears meet the TCU Horned Frogs for an afternoon of Big-12 college basketball. Baylor enters this matchup riding a one-game winning streak where they covered a 14.5 point spread. TCU would like to end a one-game losing streak where they failed to cover a +2.5 point spread.

Baylor Defeats Kansas State

Baylor is 25-2 overall with a 14-1 record in conference play this season. The Bears have won four of its last five games and Saturday marks a one-game road trip. Baylor is 8-0 this season on the road and has covered the spread in four its last five games. The Bears are tied with Kansas for the top spot in the conference but Baylor needs to continue to win in order to keep what is looking like a number one seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bears score an average of 71.4 points while allowing 58.7 points per game. CMU is shooting 43.1 percent from the field, 35.5 percent from downtown and 69.7 percent from the charity stripe this season.

Baylor has two players scoring in double figures and are led by sophomore guard Jared Butler. The sophomore guard is scoring 15.7 points with 2.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. Butler is shooting 39.2 percent from long range and scored 16 points with five assists in the Bears home win over Kansas State.

TCU Falls to Iowa State

TCU is 6-9 in conference play with an overall record of 15-13 this season. The Horned Frogs are 12-4 this season at home and have won two of its last five games. Saturday marks a one-game homestand and the Horned Frogs are 2-3 ATS over their last five games. TCU is seventh in the conference and will likely need to win their remaining games AND have a strong showing in the Big-12 tournament to receive an invitation to the NCAA Tournament.

The Horned Frogs score an average of 65.3 points per game and allow 64.3 points per game this season. TCU makes 41.9 percent of its field goal attempts, 33.9 percent of its triple tries with a 65.3 percent free-throw shooting percentage.

TCU has three players scoring in double figures and is led by senior guard Desmond Bane. The senior guard scores an average of 15.9 points with 6.4 rebounds and a team-high 3.8 assists per game this season. Bane is knocking down 41.7 percent of his triple attempts and scored 22 points with 11 rebounds and five dimes in the Horned Frogs road loss to Iowa State.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.

Full-Game Side Bet
Rating:

I will take Baylor in this matchup. TCU might need victories but they have an uphill battle with Baylor on both ends of the floor. Baylor has one of the best defenses in NCAA hoops and the Horned Frogs aren’t going to have an easy time of things scoring the basketball. TCU does have a top 70 defense but the Bears offense is top 20 and I don’t think that they will have any trouble with the Horned Frogs. Baylor is 3-2 ATS in their previous five meetings with TCU and I will take Baylor to beat TCU in this matchup.

Prediction: Baylor

Full-Game Total Pick
Rating:

We don’t have a total to point to for Saturday but I will be going with the UNDER in this matchup. These two sides finished under the total in their previous meeting and with these two defenses, the way they are, going under the total is the only logical way to go. Both teams play well below the NCAA average tempo and I don’t see these two sides having enough possessions to exceed the total. I will play UNDER in this contest.

Prediction: Under
