We have a Big East Conference match up to consider for Saturday afternoon when the Seton Hall Pirates meet the Marquette Golden Eagles for an afternoon of Big East college basketball. Seton Hall enters this matchup riding a two-game winning streak and went 1-1 ATS. Marquette is coming off a home victory over Georgetown in a game they covered a 9.5 point spread.
Seton Hall Two Game Winning StreakSeton Hall is 20-7 overall with a 12-3 record in conference play this season. The Pirates have won three of its last five games and Saturday marks a one-game road trip. Seton Hall is 7-3 this season on the road and has failed to cover the spread in three of its last five games. The Pirates lead the Big East by one game and would likely be the third seed in the East if the NCAA Tournament were to begin today.
For years, Romaro Gill played much like he lived, quietly and unassumingly. Now the @SetonHallMBB senior is the most improved player in the @BIGEASTMBB if not the country. How Gill found his voice and his confidence. https://t.co/whW3uaZOvc— Dana O'Neil (@DanaONeilWriter) February 28, 2020
The Pirates score an average of 74.7 points while allowing 66.7 points per game. Seton Hall is shooting 44.3 percent from the field, 32.3 percent from downtown and 72 percent from the charity stripe this season.
Seton Hall has three players scoring in double figures and are led by senior guard Myles Powell. The senior guard is scoring 21.3 points with 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. Powell is shooting 30 percent from long range and scored 18 points with five rebounds and four assists in the Pirates home win over St Johns.
Marquette Home Win Over GeorgetownMarquette is 8-7 in conference play with an overall record of 18-9 this season. The Golden Eagles are 13-2 this season at home and have won two of its last five games. Saturday marks game two of a two-game homestand and the Golden Eagles are 3-2 ATS over their last five games. Marquette is fifth in the Big East and would likely be the seventh seed in the South if the NCAA Tournament were to begin today.

The Golden Eagles score an average of 77.8 points per game and allow 70.5 points per game this season. Marquette makes 43.1 percent of its field goal attempts, 38.1 percent of its triple tries with a 73.9 percent free-throw shooting percentage.
Marquette has three players scoring in double figures and is led by senior guard Markus Howard. The senior guard scores an average of 27.2 points with 3.5 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game this season. Howard is knocking down 39.6 percent of his triple attempts and scored 30 points with five rebounds and seven dimes in the Golden Eagles home win over Georgetown.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I will take Marquette in this matchup. This is the final home game of Howard’s career and he’s going to go out and light Seton Hall up. Marquette has been solid at home this season and there and Seton Hall has been good but not great on the road this season. The Pirates do have a terrific defense but the emotions will be running high and Marquette is going to sneak out of their own barn with a win. I will play Marquette to beat Seton Hall in this matchup.
Full-Game Total Pick
We don’t have a total to point to for Saturday but I will be going with the UNDER in this matchup. The under is 3-2 over their previous five meetings and I suspect with these two defenses, this will go under the total as well. Both teams play over the NCAA average tempo but Marquette relies too much on the triple and in an emotional game such as this, they may not drain their usual 38 percent. I will play UNDER in this contest.
