With March upon us, conference tournament play continues as the SEC tournament resumes this Thursday. In this quarterfinals matchup, the Kentucky Wildcats will travel to Bridgestone Arena to take on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Kentucky enters this game with a 26-5 record while Alabama enters this game with an 18-14 record. Now, both teams will be looking to improve on their records this Friday.
Kentucky Looks For Revenge Against Alabama
This season, Kentucky has looked extremely solid once again as the team is currently 26-5 and looks like it will be a competitor for a national championship. Kentucky has been rolling in the last few weeks as the team has won six of its last seven games including a win over Florida in its last game. However, Kentucky surprisingly lost its only meeting against Alabama in the regular season and will now have the chance to avenge that loss in the conference tournament. With potential revenge and a semifinals spot as risk, look for Kentucky to be dialed in for this game.
The Kentucky Wildcats are led by sophomore forward PJ Washington who has been amazing this season. Kentucky’s coach John Calipari is known for being an amazing recruiter who relies heavily on younger players to carry the bulk of the team’s offense. This season, Washington has been that player as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 14.9 points per game along with 7.5 rebounds. However, Washington will now to tasked with even more responsibilities after fellow big man Reid Travis suffered as knee injury that has kept him sidelined for the last few weeks. However, he is expected to play in this game.
Alabama Snaps Losing Streak
This season, Alabama has looked pretty solid as the team has won 18 of its first 32 games. In addition, the team still has a shot at making the NCAA tournament despite losing each of its last three games in the regular season. However, the team did manage to snap its losing streak with a come-from-behind win against Ole Miss in the first round of the conference tournament. In that game, the team only allowed 57 points on less than 39% shooting from the floor. However, Alabama should still be motivated to play extremely well in this game as a potential conference tournament run can still get the team into the NCAA tournament.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are led by freshman guard Kira Lewis Jr. who has been the best player on this year’s team. This season, he has entered the program and become an absolute force as he is currently leading the team in scoring with 13.9 points per game along with 2.9 assists. He managed to score 13 points in the team’s last game which is why the team was able to pull out that comeback victory.
- Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.
- Over is 4-0 in Crimson Tide last 4 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Over is 4-0 in Wildcats last 4 vs. a team with a winning straight up record.
- Over is 6-2 in Wildcats last 8 neutral site games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Kentucky is the better and more consistent team while it also possesses one of the best coaches in all of college basketball. Alabama is coming off a solid performance but it was against significantly worse opponent as the Crimson Tide now have to play against a team that is the class of its conference. Kentucky is a fantastic team that has the talent to blow Alabama out due to its quality offense and very underrated defense. Give me the favorite in this one.
Full-Game Total Pick
Kentucky likes to run uptempo and Alabama should not have any problems reciprocating that style of play. Since I think that Kentucky will win this game, I do believe that this game will better suit Kentucky stylistically as both teams will get whatever they want offensively and this game will most likely turn into a shootout. I think that this total is too low so I will lean to the over as a result.
