Zion Williamson decided to make the Syracuse Orange regret showing up to the ACC Tournament without their leading scorer, Tyus Battle, as the freshman beast only went 13 for 13 from the floor after missing the last 6 games of the regular season.
Tonight, Coach K and his revered recruit take on the North Carolina Tarheels for a third time this season, except this one will be played at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC, for the right to play in the ACC Tournament Finals against either Virginia or Florida State.
Can we really say much more about 13 for 13 with 29 points and 14 rebounds to go with 5 steals and a Duke record set for shots made in a single game without a miss. I mean really? Not a missed shot on the night Zion? His free throw shooting left something to be desired, as he only hit 2 of his 9 attempts from the charity stripe leaving 7 points off the stat sheet. (He’ll muddle through)
The Tarheels got past Louisville with an 83 – 70 win from Thursday’s ACC QF appearance, as both Luke Maye and Coby White landed 19 points each, despite both combining to make 2 of 10 from distance in the winning effort.
It’s Duke and North Carolina in quite a meaningful game this Friday, with a trip to the finals of the ACC Tournament on the line. Trophies and 1-seeds and all that good stuff!
Zion Williamson, Zion Williamson, & Zion Williamson!
I mean how do you not sit and watch that outing against Syracuse and not marvel and what an animal Zion Williamson was in his first-ever ACC Tournament as a freshman after basically missing the last 6 games with the knee injury.
Zion back with the 🏀 & the 🎤‼️
Got up with J. Gold for the exclusive.

Knee injury? What knee injury, because if he isn’t 100% healthy right now, then the Tarheels might want to just stay in the damn hotel and not even bother dressing tonight.
Obviously, Zion wants another crack at the Tarheels after coming out of their second meeting in less than a minute, and that is what caused him to miss the final 6 games of the regular season as well as he twisted wrong and fell in a heap on that knee.
Um, looking good Zion! No worries dude, and he told Allison Williams as much after the game when he spoke to her for the post-game interview. “Feels Great, excited to be here, and looking forward To the rival game with N.C” were some of the words he said to her, and anyone who saw that performance didn’t wonder a lick about how and why he took ACC Rookie and POY honors this season.
I’m thinkin’ that every NBA scout in North America made sure to take just a couple of notes from Williamson’s outing last night, and now we get to see it again tonight in a rival game against North Carolina baby!
WOOOOOOO! I mean, my wife couldn’t tell me that she was paying for dinner, dessert and bringing me home to.. oh stop it, I can’t go there man, I’ll get hammered for that one LOL
Anyway, must-see doesn’t even start to describe a 3rd meeting with Duke and North Carolina this season, especially at the ACC Tournament with seeds in the big dance at stake.
RJ Barrett brought in 23 points, by the way, with 6 rebounds too. Hey I had to mention someone else besides the animal of the year, right!?
Roy Williams Needs No Video Room To Know What Zion Offers
Carolina’s head coach Roy Williams need not ask the guys if they need a video session to go over what Zion Williamson does well, because, well, they would never leave the room and would be watching tape until next weekend when the real deal starts at the NCAA Tournament.

Although it’s hard to soak in what a healthy Williamson brings to Duke’s table, the Heels are certainly seeing this as another rival game that always means something, regular season, post-season or in the damn desert in India if they laced them up there too!
You can pretty much count on the fact that Coach Williams told his crew that if they weren’t rebounding, you weren’t seeing the court, as you can tell by the 44 – 35 +9 towards the Heels in the rebounding numbers.
Luke Maye found his way to 19 points and 9 boards, while Cody White also scored 19 points while taking in 7 rebounds, as every player who saw time found at least 1 board, short of the 2 minutes from the final minute when the game was put away.
The Heels swept the regular season series over Duke this year, and I wish I knew the stat pertaining to the last time the Heels took 3 meetings from Duke in a single season, although I do believe it was 1976 from digging around at Sports-Reference.
• Tar Heels are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games.
• Under is 15-7 in Tar Heels last 22 overall.
• Under is 5-0 in the last 5 meetings.
• Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Friday games.
• Under is 10-4 in Blue Devils last 14 vs. Atlantic Coast.
• Under is 33-16-2 in Blue Devils last 51 overall.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Zion is back, and that performance against Syracuse tells me that fading Duke right now probably ain’t the smartest move to make right now.
Full-Game Total Pick
Why not play it again, as it seems these two always hit the under when they meet lately, being that the Under has hit the last 5 times they’ve met.
Might be close, but the Under make the board.
