The George Mason Patriots escaped with a 61 – 57 win over the George Washington Colonials in their 2nd round matchup at the Atlantic-10 Conference Tournament, and they’ll get to face the St. Bonaventure Bonnies in a 4-5 encounter on Friday afternoon.
The Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, NY, will be a happening place today, as 4 games will make up the quarterfinals of the A-10 Tourney, with this being game #2 of the day following up the Rhode Island / VCU affair that starts the day at high-noon in the Big Apple.
These two teams split their season series making this a rubber game for today’s affair, as both won their home games and were neck-and-neck in the conference standings all year long.
The Bonnies carry some momentum into the event having won 7 of their last 8 games, so this should be a battle for the quest towards a semifinals appearance on Saturday.
Patriots Looking For First-Ever Appearance In A-10 Semi’s
The Patriots joined the Atlantic-10 Conference for the 2013/14 campaign, and they have still never made it beyond the point they sit today when they take on the Bonnies.

George Mason has only found 2 wins overall in 5 previous A-10 Tourney outings thus far, as they beat UMass last year before bowing out to St. Joe’s in the QFs.
The Patriots got past the Colonials on Thursday afternoon, and actually beat them twice-in-a-row after ending the regular season taking them down too.
Leading scorer Justin Kier came away with 26 points to open his 3rd crack at an A-10 title, as he took in 13.9 PPG over the regular season. Kier added 8 rebounds and 5 dimes on a 10 of 14 shooting day, while Otis Livingston II found his way to 12 points despite a 4 of 16 shooting performance.
Bonnies Seeking 2nd Straight Semifinal Appearance At A-10 Tourney
The Bonnies won 2 games in last year’s A-10 Tourney en route to a semifinals appearance against Davidson, although they lost to the eventual winners of the tournament as the Wildcats took home the trophy and gained the auto-bid to the big dance.
This year, it will only take one win for St. Bonaventure to land in the semi’s again, although a scrappy George Mason squad is not about to go down lightly.

The Bonnies defense ranks 24th in the nation only allowing opponents to score 63.9 PPG, as they sit 35th in the country holding teams to 40.7% from the floor. The issues for St. Bonaventure this season came on offense, as this Bonnies team sits 315th in the land averaging 66.5 PPG.
Senior forward Courtney Stockard finished his last regular season leading the team bringing in 15.4 PPG with 5,6 boards and 3.5 assists a contest as well. Stockard missed the first 6 games of the season, but still landed 16 double-digit games out of 26 appearances.
Freshman guard Kyle Lofton sits behind Stockard with his 14.2 PPG, as he led the team with 3.6 assists a game and 1.5 steals a night. Lofton shot 31.1% from behind the arc in his opening collegiate campaign, but he finished the year 3 of 18 over the last 6 games of the season.
• Favorite is 9-0 ATS in the last 9 meetings.

• Bonnies are 6-1 ATS in the last 7 meetings.
• Over is 8-3 in Patriots last 11 overall.
• Over is 59-28 in Patriots last 87 vs. Atlantic 10.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
The Bonnies get the nod from me with only a few points to lay for this squad that I think will hand the Patriots a beat-down.
Seriously, I see a 78 – 64 thrashing coming for George Mason, and I know they can hang around and will not go down lightly, but the Bonnies will erase them from the A-10 Tourney and advance to the semifinals
Prediction: Bonnies -3
Full-Game Total Pick
I wasn’t too convinced to offer the Over here, although I can see why one would suspect the possibility of an under here as well. When isn’t a play a coin-flip situation, and my coin just happened to land on heads LOL
I didn’t really flip a damn coin man, come on now, but I just see the potential for some scoring that is just a hunch on my part.
Prediction: Over 129
