The Wildcats flexed their muscles against TCU using their strong suit. They were a top-five team defensively all season long. They sure looked like it in this win. The road will only get tougher. Iowa State is a much more dangerous opponent than TCU. Kansas State has the star power to get this win along with the defensive ability. The Wildcats played just two guys off the bench in their win over TCU. Depth has been short all season long, but it has not affected them to this point. Kansas State will play to their strengths and try to move onto the championship game.
Iowa State Shoots Their Way into Semi-Final
Iowa State is one of the most intriguing teams in the tournament. At their best, they are tough to beat. That is the memo Baylor received on Thursday night. Iowa State scored 83 points on 51.7% from the field. They went 13-25 from three-point range in the win. They jumped out early on Baylor, and never looked back. Iowa State has the offensive ability to score with anyone in the country. Talen Horton-Tucker led the Cyclones in scoring with 21 points. Marial Shayok turned in another solid performance finishing with 18 points.

This is an Iowa State team that has wins over Kansas State, Kansas, and Texas Tech this season. At their best, they can compete with anyone in the country. Consistency has been their problem as they have bad losses on their resume as well. In a tournament setting, they can succeed. They have senior leadership that has been here before and can lead the Cyclones to where they want to be. Shayok is a player who can be the best on the floor on any given night. This is the first game of the Big 12 semis, and it will be a can’t miss.

Prediction: Kansas State
Full-Game Total Pick
Kansas State is the number four defensive in the nation in regards of points allowed. This game has to be an under, right? Not so fast. Three of the last four match ups between these two teams have been over. Iowa State is a team that can put the ball in the basket. They put up 78 points in their previous meeting with Kansas State. Also, the number is always lower on a Kansas State game. This will not be a game played in the 80’s, but it will not need to be. Expect these two teams to duke it out all night, and crawl to an over.
