The North Dakota State Bison and the NC Central Eagles will meet at the University of Dayton Arena this Wednesday as both teams will be looking for another victory. North Dakota State enters this game with an 18-15 record while NC Central also enters this game with an 18-15 record this season. Now, both teams will be looking to improve on their respective records in this one.
North Dakota State Goes Dancing For First Time Since 2015
This season, North Dakota State was expected to build upon last year behind some veteran leadership and to become a lot more competitive in the Summit League. So far this season, the team has achieved that goal as it is currently 18-15 and even managed to make it into the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2015. Even more impressively, the team managed to win its conference tournament as a four-seed after beating Omaha in the conference championship game. It is important to note that this team is an elite free throw shooting team as it shoots 76.5% from the line which ranks tied for 17th in the nation. If this game comes down to the wire, there are not many other teams you would rather see at the foul line.
After all we've been through, everything clicked for 3 nights in March.

The North Dakota State Bison are led by junior guard Vinnie Shahid who has looked great so far this season. So far this season, he is currently leading the team in points per game and assists per game. Specifically, he is averaging 12.8 points per game along with 2.7 assists as he has embraced the leadership role on this team. He is also coming into this game in great form as he scored a team-high 22 points in the conference championship game against Omaha.
Coach Richman credited the new members of the team for the team’s success as chemistry for the Bison is at a serious high.
That team chemistry will need to remain at its current level if the North Dakota State Bison plan on winning this game.
NC Central Makes Third Straight NCAA Tournament
This season, NC Central hoped to return to the NCAA tournament by winning its conference tournament in the MEAC. So far this season, the team has achieved that goal as it is currently 18-15 and even managed to make it into the NCAA tournament for the third straight season. Even more impressively, the team managed to win its conference tournament as a three-seed after beating the favorite to win the conference, Norfolk State, in the conference championship game. In that game, NC Central’s defense was unbelievable as it held Norfolk State to just 47 points on 34% shooting from the floor. If NC Central hopes to win this game, its defense will have to play well once again.
The NC Central Eagles are led by senior center Raasean Davis who has looked great so far this season. So far this season, he is currently leading the team in points per game and rebounds per game. Specifically, he is averaging 14.6 points per game along with 8.9 rebounds as he has embraced the leadership role on this team. He is also coming into this game in great form as he recorded an impressive 14 rebounds in the conference title game against Norfolk State.
Coach Moton believes that the team will need to play its best basketball against North Dakota State in order for the team to advance.
“The great thing is that we’re here; we’re in this tournament. It’s something we asked to be in. The bad thing is there’s no bad teams. You have to play your A game. Your C game is not going to get — you don’t get away with that,” Moton said.
- Under is 6-0 in Eagles last 6 overall.
- Under is 20-5-1 in Eagles last 26 games following a ATS win.
- Under is 4-0 in Bison last 4 non-conference games.
The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
Overall, North Dakota State is a really solid team and does the little things extremely well like free throw shooting while NC Central does not. Although NC Central has played in a First Four game each of the last two seasons, the team has still yet to win one so I have the notion that this team just simply cannot handle the stress of playing in the NCAA tournament. Meanwhile, North Dakota State’s program has been in the actual field before and won so I trust the Bison more in this matchup. This game will be close for a while but some late free throw shooting will allow North Dakota State to cover this spread.
Prediction: North Dakota State -5
Full-Game Total Pick
This game is between two teams that play extremely different styles of basketball. While North Dakota State loves to play uptempo, NC Central does not and I think that NC Central will be able to control the tempo in this game. The Eagles have a top-75 scoring defense in college basketball and I can see this game being played exclusively in the halfcourt which should eat up a lot of clock. This total is too high in my opinion so I will recommend the under in this one.
Prediction: Under 134.5
