We have the First Round of the College Insider Invitational (CIT) as our focus when the Green Bay Phoenix travel to Johnson City for a matchup with host East Tennessee State Buccaneers. Green Bay finished fourth in the Horizon League and East Tennessee State finished their season in a two-way tie for first place in the Southern Conference. I’m the Flash and I’m looking forward to telling you what you need to know about this contest and help you make “Cash with the Flash” on Wednesday night.
Phoenix Happy to be Playing in CIT
The Green Bay Phoenix had a nice season, finishing with a 17-16 record and an above.500 mark in Horizon League play this season. KenPom ranks the Phoenix number 206 in the nation with a strength of schedule rating at number 157 strongest among their D1 hoops peers. The Phoenix have had two separate three-game losing streaks and just two three-game winning streaks this season. With only two seniors on their roster, this will be a great chance for the Phoenix to get some experience and maybe reach the NCAA Tourney next season.

The Phoenix isn’t reporting any injuries for their matchup with East Tennessee State.
Green Bay has a road record of 4-12 this season and is hoping to end a one-game losing streak on Wednesday against the Buccaneers.
Senior guard Sandy Cohen III leads the Phoenix in several categories including points (17.2), rebounds (6.4), assists (4.5), steals (1.9) blocks (1.1) and plays bass in the pep band. Cohen drains 1.5 triples per game and has exceeded his scoring average in three of the last five games.
The Phoenix score an average of 80.4 points per game and haul down 8.4 offensive boards, grab 27.9 defensive rebounds and drop 14.8 dimes per game this season.
East Tennessee State Has Designs on a CIT Title Run
As their 24-9 record bears testimony, East Tennessee State had a solid season of their own, they just couldn’t get over the hump in the Southern Conference, finishing tied for third place with a 13-5 record. KenPom ranks the Buccaneers number 69 in the country with a strength of schedule as the 159th strongest in D1 basketball this season. East Tennessee State has lost more than two games only once and has an eight-game winning streak and a five-game winning streak this season. Winning this event will be special for the Buccaneers side, and that begins on Wednesday with the Green Bay Phoenix.

The Bottom Line What to bet on this game.
Full-Game Side Bet
I don’t have any doubt that East Tennessee will win this game, but I have some huge doubt they cover the 12.5 points they have to spot Green Bay. The Buccaneers are 3-7 ATS in their past ten games and Green Bay is 6-4 ATS over their last ten games. Even with their top 80 offense and defense, East Tennessee State is going to have their hands full trying to cover that many points in a tournament game. I’m taking the points and making “Cash with the Flash” with the Green Bay Phoenix on Wednesday.
Prediction: Green Bay -12.5 Points
Full-Game Total Pick
That’s quite a few points for these two sides and I won’t be surprised if the total doesn’t reach 156 or more. And that will be perfectly fine with me. The Buccaneers are a solid defensive unit and I think they will impose their will on that end of the floor and that should limit the points. Green Bay doesn’t rebound the basketball on the offensive end of things very well and that should limit the Green Bay points some.
When I did the math and added everything together, I came away with 140.5 points and thought that might be a bit low, but nowhere near the 152.5 total. I’m winning “Cash with the Flash” on the under in this one!
Prediction: Under 152.5 Points
